Riding near horses or trailers carrying horses. Could be on the motorway in traffic or when you’re out riding on country roads. What do you do, if anything?   Many times during my commute I pass horse floats. I tend to pull my clutch in and roll past the float and then slowly and smoothly let the clutch out so as not to make any abrupt noises. This all sounds very “extra” but it takes no real effort at all.   When I’m out riding in the wops, I sometimes see riders on horses. I have on multiple occasions turned my bike off and rolled past them before turning it back on and riding awa ..read more

The 2004 onwards R1 and FZ1 model had issues with the charging system rotor magnets breaking off the epoxy and completely destroying the stator and sending metal particles all through the oil. It isn’t an “if” it’s a “when” it’ll happen as the epoxy gets brittle over heat cycles. They quietly replaced the poorly designed rotor with a new part in 2007 onwards. The new part is sold as a replacement for the 2005+ models when you go to order a replacement. Again, should have been a recall but Yamaha kept quiet about it. Read on to find out more… If this issue has happened to you and you need to re ..read more

Lane splitting is awesome isn’t it? You save a ton of time and you get an entire piece of road, all to yourself! This lane splitting tip is based on New Zealand roads, where the “fast lane” is on the far right hand side, if overtaking a car, you are meant to move to the right hand side and overtake. Motorway exits in New Zealand are located on the left hand side only at the time of writing this. Most of us who lane split have probably encountered the situation below. You approach traffic and one lane has cars backed up quite a lot further than another. In most cases, because many drivers love ..read more
