Remember the 683 is a pretty useless service and if you miss it at HCS you'll have a long wait for the next one.

We know there are numerous Missed Public Transport Opportunities but the biggest one would probably the MATS Plan when it suggested a underground railway for Adelaide and it never happened- mind you some of the highway developments have happened in a very roundabout way look at the Northern Expressway or Port Expressway and North-South Corridor from Torrens to the Port Expressway. However having said some others I could mention include:
* Lack of possible foresight in the retention of the Victor Harbor Line (albeit with improvements to track) via Mount Barker, also closure of the Barossa Line ..read more

As we know the Riverlea Housing Development has been taking place prior to 2023 and there has been a cry out for public transport development to occur. However, what had happened in order to introduce this it meant reducing the route 900 as a stand-alone route from Salisbury to Virginia but extending it to the Riverlea Estate. Then the new route 450 was probably a tag onto to an existing route (which one anyone’s guess) and then that was extended to Riverlea Estate. In essence Riverlea Estate has two separate bus routes both go via Virgina but both operate at different times. One the route 40 ..read more

Late February 2007 saw cut backs to services across the Transitplus bus services and where services used to run through to and from the City, all these services either became feeders to the main services or cut back to run to a certain place. a few examples;
Aldgate based services
Before February 2007, Routes 165 & 166 during the peak ran through to the City and through to Aldgate, after February 2007, Routes 865 & 866 terminated at the Crafers Ramp & commenced at the Crafers Park and Ride. During the day the Route 866 was cut back to every 3 hours and has remained that headway eve ..read more

Many public transport observers and advocates have noticed in the past three decades the philosophy to improve services you have to reduce an existing one to pay for a new and or improved services.
Some planners have spoken about this at times when Inner Suburban services needed to be cut to improve services in Outer areas.
However, lets look in depth how this happens and in recent times it happened a year ago- July 2023.
As we know the Riverlea Housing Development has been taking place prior to 2023 and there has been a cry out for public transport development to occur. However, what had ha ..read more

Saw MAN 18.280 bus 1502 back in service on Friday (28/06). Must have recently returned from Mid North. Am wondering if this is due to the large number of buses soon to be heading to Sydney to work the Bankstown Rail subs

Maybe if Bustech can't deliver maybe a different body builder i.e. Volgren
Some more Volgren Optimus's would be nice to see, and maybe a different chassis and not just, 'Scania' all the time.
Adelaide doesn't have variety like it once did.

Do we even have the buses to improve services to Mt Barker? New deliveries have all but dried up lately, and very soon the NL202 CNG's will start to hit 25 years...
The government said in their press release that there would be 15 buses for the proposed services, (as far as I know) the 15 hybrid buses from Torrens were to be loaned to Southlink’s until the new buses were delivered).

It was alluded to in a post in the NSW subforum (among several others in that thread) that Bustech appear to be experiencing delays in bodying buses for customers - however as you'll notice, there was some debate as to whether this was the delayed arrival of Scania chassis or a hold-up with Bustech themselves.
If extra buses aren't forthcoming, I guess the changes will have to be postponed, or watered down in peak periods until such a time as enough buses become available. Alternatively, the Government could procure secondhand buses from interstate as an interim measure, although that would b ..read more
