Hi, I just bought an Impala 65 Coupe 6 cyl. I'm starting this project. I think the most challenging parts will be painting and in the future i'm thinking about changing the motor to a v8. The car in general is in good condition. Any advice, experience, guide or manuals you would like to share with me I'll apprecciate it. I'm new on this. Cheers ..read more

Hedman Headers

Looking at replacing my 30 year old Flow Tech headers with Hedman 68170. From what I see on Jegs and Summit, they will fit 65 to 70 full size Chevy’s. From sedans to station wagons. From the comments sections, there’s not much mentioned regarding having to dimple tube 1 to access plug 1 on the drivers side. Dimpling tubes 2 or 3 to clear a corner of the steering box. Or in my case from day 1. Drivers side hanging lower than the passenger side. Currently have 2.5” at the flange. 3” at the... Hedman Headers ..read more

I finally secured a bezel that is in pretty good shape. It has been painted, I need some help, if someone has a picture of what an original bezel looks like color wise I would appreciate it. The best I can tell is the majority of each compartment (areas where speedo, clock, gas are) appear to be a chrome like color with black trim in the grooves. Has anyone restored a bezel and if so can you share the process. Thanks John ..read more

Engine power wire routing for american autowire update kit 1965 impala

I'm in the processes of wiring up the power for the engine bay kit for this. Per the instructions, the diagram in the kit shows the power routing like this: 6ga power wire from the 175 amp mega fuses -> starter solenoid -> 6ga power wire -> positive battery terminal (see picture). but in the actual text, it says to route the power from starter (or other battery feed) to the mega fuse. Then the power routes from the battery. So the power flow would be alternator -> mega fuse -> starter... Engine power wire routing for american autowire update kit 1965 impala ..read more

Wanting to add a tach to my 62’. Car is an automatic and would really like to add one to the steering column. Would like some input and pics of some tachs mounted. Was looking at the Mooneyes tach or a vintage looking aftermarket. I also like the old Chevelle “knee knocker tachs”, but feel those would be hard to see while driving ..read more
