Help identifying a Bristan Shower

Hi All As you can see from the attached pix, the flow control knob on my Bristan shower has broken. It was installed before I bought the house (possibly between 2015 and 2017) but I've no idea what model it is. Firstly, can anyone help me to identify it to see if I can get a replacement knob. Secondly, I can refit the knob but as soon as I try to turn the shower on, it immediately loosens again. The screw goes into the thread of the 'tap' but it seems as if it is immediately being undone by the action of turning the shower on; might this simply a problem with lock washer not gripping? Thanks ..read more

I removed the tile floor in my bathroom to fit vinyl and I noticed that the loo now leaks slightly when I flush it. I haven’t put the vinyl down yet, so I can build up the floor under the loo if needed to put it back to the level it was, but maybe I can re-seat the big plastic flange slightly or something? What are my options? Thanks and seasons cheer Simon ..read more

Hello there all, I care for my disabled mum and her wet room ceiling has developed small speckles of black mould. I plan to remove the black mould and then paint the ceiling voer with a decent anti-mould ceiling paint. Can anyone recommend a decent paint brand? I know of Ronseal and Zinsser but wondered if there were any others? Mum also has asthma so I wonder is there a low odur paint? Many thanks, Rik ..read more

I’m after some advice. I’ve inherited my parents house. In the process of doing it up. My dad got a Mira combiflow installed about 15 years ago. Over the last couple of months every so often when it’s turned on the water runs ice cold even if I turn the handle to hottest temp. All other taps in the house run hot it’s just the shower that randomly doesn’t. Is this fixable or am I looking at a new shower? If fixable what could be the issue ..read more

Refill tube in fill valve

Hi, I have just installed a combination all in one WC/small basin…. Out of the fill valve there is a small tube which emits a lot of water during the refill (I believe it is known as a refill tube) and is connected directly into the overflow tube that drains into the pan, Googling suggests its’ purpose is to refill the bowl after flushing Surely here in the UK the WC pan has an integral U-bend so this is not required?.... it certainly wastes a lot of water during refilling and seems to serve no purpose, the pan never empties of water. The WC is connected to a macerator and the excess water ..read more

my bathroom sink (installed 2017) was broken recently and needs replacing. on inspection there is no brand name and only a few markings so I'm guessing its a trade sink that plumbers would buy. The sink has 1708 indented in the china which i guess is a model number but doesnt show up on google. The main marking RR is located near the drain pipe hole, i think this might be the brand identifier. The sink itself is a white semi-recessed sink approx 495*395. Main distinguishing feature is the recessed area under the taphole, i have been googling sinks and cant find another sink with a partial rece ..read more
