MOEN 1200 brass cartridge- should there be a screen in here?

The flow from my MOEN shower valve had slowed to almost a dribble. I pulled the cartridge out last night and saw that it was clogged with more pipe leavings than I could reasonably clean without time and some CLR. Put it back in and went out to get a new one today. Opening it up I saw that it did not have the screen in it like my old one (the one on the right). What gives- is/was this screen part of the MOEN assembly at one time? This may be the original from 1961 and may never have... Read more ..read more

Help locating a Shower Drain

Hello! I am having a heck of time trying to find a new shower drain. This house was built in 1995. I’m especially confused on the name of the part I’m actually searching for. A new drain was purchased (thinking they were universal), but new diameter is too large/tall. The old screw in drain is 1.5 inches in height. The circumference of the old piece is 9.5 inches, Outer diameter 3 inches. Inner diameter approximately 67mm, just over 2.5 inches. Excuse my ignorance as I am a “super... Read more ..read more

How to get handle of AXOR off

I don't have the exact model, but it looks exactly like this. I need to repair the pushbuttons, they pop off. I know under the escucheon you can pop off the plastic cage that the button slides onto, but I think I can just "adjust" the button. But mine does NOT have a hole for a 2mm hexkey that I've seen on other models, I've seen older models on assembly where you just have the therm control at 12 o'clock, and slide it on, but no mention how to get the handle off. I can't believe they... Read more ..read more

What types of shower valve/trim do I need?

Hello! I would love to replace my old Central Brass shower handles in my 1920's shower doing as little damage to the original tile as possible. Currently, the shower and tub spout are controlled by two separate sets of hot/cold handles, each at 11" OC. All replacement trim sets I have been able to find are for standard 8" OC handles with a fixed 8" rough in valve. I have access behind the wall and I intend on installing an in-wall thermostatic mixing valve like the sharkbite one to bring the... Read more ..read more

I have another thread looking for help for SEPCO Temp Rite shower control and was not able to identify the replacement parts. Thanks to the Forum members who responded with "how to info" and identified the valve as being a Symmons Temptrol TA 10. One member even provided the full parts list at Home Depot ! In searching for Symmons seat replacement tools I came across an excellent video where the plumber showed in detail how to rebuild the valve using impact seat removal set that covers old... Brick Shower Demo

Hi everyone! We've had a bathroom shower that we never use because the previous homeowners decided to use half brick panels, almost like tiles of brick, as the wall's and floor. It gets moldy almost immediately with use, and it is a cleaning nightmare even if we routinely reseal it with a waterproof sealer. We are considering just demo'ing the bathroom down to studs, but had a friend suggest we could maybe just tile over top of it. Such as using thinset to level and apply WEDI board... Old Kohler Waste and Overflow / Stopper

Got an old kohler waste and overflow with what seems to me as a built in drain stopper. Wondering if this can be removed without taking the w/o assembly out or if it's built in. It's constantly clogged and I think the hair is just building up past the stopper mechanism and I can't pull it out. I can't find any comparable pictures to what I'm adding here ..read more
