We are in D.C. And I was hoping to find replicas of political / activist buttons, like the ones they have on display at the American History Museum.
I have been looking in the gift shops and I can’t seem to find any. Does anyone know of a good place for them?

I know there are some folks who’d appreciate a DC report, so I thought I’d share my family’s itinerary from this past week. Feel free to ask me any questions!
This was a first time for our two DS (almost 11 and almost 8). We rented a VRBO about ten min away from the Capitol South metro stop, which made for a great location. In the past week, we managed to get to:
Monday:
-Air and Space Museum
-Union Station
-O Museum at the Mansion
Tuesday:
-The White House
-The Capitol
-Library of Congress
Wednesday:
-Spy Museum
-Jefferson Memorial
-FDR Memorial
-MLK Memorial
-Korean War Memorial
-Vietnam War ..read more

I just saw the announcement of Ford’s Theatre’s next season and I’m so exciting b/c they are doing Little Shop of Horrors! I’m posting this b/c it seems to not be widely known that they do productions.

DC is driving me nuts! We will be there in just a little more than two months and I’m not allowed to book much. I keep running into “Reservations will be available 30 days beforehand.”
Then you add in that we’ve requested a couple of tours that require your Rep. to get the tickets for you, and it feels like plans are in limbo since I’d obviously cancel other stuff if we get the tour tickets. So, even things like a could book I’m holding off.
Just thought that this would be the one group that could understand. I obviously have our VRBO and transportation picked out.

As some of you know, DS16 is going to Italy with a school tour this spring break. So, I planned for the rest of us (DH56, DS14, and DD11 and me, DW47) to go to Philadelphia, which I just visited with DS16 last August briefly. Well, things didn’t turn out that way, b/c DH and DS14 are really worn out from all sorts of stuff (we’re prepping to move in town) and I completely agreed. They just want to stay home.
So, I cancelled the Philly but still wanted to do something. DD11 also definitely was disappointed and wanted to do something. This was just a few days ago and spring break starts just bef ..read more

We are going to DC this summer. Any chance that a new book will be released before then? Otherwise I’ll just buy a 2019.

Hi all. I figured it would be good to add to the DC posts here especially since I found some of the prior posts useful. We are day 5 of 7 days in DC. We are myself, DH, DD10 and our dog staying at an Airbnb near capital hill. So far the weather has been super mild and lovely! We spent two weeks in Florida (one at Universal) and have stopped here before we head back to New England.
We are managing work and online school so we are not doing tourist stuff all day long. Sunday we arrived and just did our grocery shopping and dog walking. It was a lovely day and there were so many families out at p ..read more

I am planning on a family trip to DC over my kid’s Spring Break. We will arrive on Sunday, March 12 and start driving home to IN on Friday, March 17 probably at lunch time. We will use various forms of public transportation while there-Metro, bus, DC circular, uber/lift as appropriate. We are staying in a hotel a block from the Navy Yard Metro station.
My travel group is myself, DH, DD16, DS15 and DD9. I have a schedule mapped out and have a few entry tickets lined up and am waiting for a few more to open mid February (30 days out)
The kids have never been to DC, DH went once years ago. I have ..read more

Planning a trip for July 9, 2023 (Sunday) to July 12, 2023 (Wednesday)
We can’t change the date. We’ll be in Baltimore the last half of July 4th week. There is a chance we will come back sometime in the next few years when the weather is nicer and kids are in school. The end date is also flexible.
DD has never been. DH went as a teen with his boy scout troop. He remembers doing a Capitol tour, and shaking hands with “Bush.” Considering our ages that was probably H.W. while he was V.P. I was there once many years ago during Memorial weekend when most of the Smithsonian’s were closed. But I did ..read more

This topic has been dead for the last couple of years, so who knows if anyone will even see this, but here goes.
DD22, recent college graduate, is interning for a Congress Critter this summer and then hopes to get a job somewhere and stay for a while. I’m super excited to see where this adventure takes her!
Long story short, DD19 and I decided to fly out to see her this weekend (on like 3 days notice) and see some sights! In true Dis Ney fashion, I had to set my alarm this morning to try for a LL to the Holocaust Museum at 7:00 am. I grabbed a time, but couldn’t complete the transaction becau ..read more
