When you book your session I will send you a questionnaire, this asks questions about your preferences for your shoot. I try to make it as short and simple as possible, but I know it can be a hassle! Newborn sessions are always a big unknown, you may have experienced one before - but you never know what this particular baby is going to be like. Are they super sleepy or super sensitive, are they relaxed or tense? Do they have tummy issues or one big burp and they are back into a deep sleep? I have a lot of experience with babies and can usually get them to sleep or pretty close, but there is al ..read more

Safety is of the utmost importance when it comes to newborn photography. Newborns are fragile and require special care and handling during photoshoots. A good newborn photographer will have the necessary training and experience to handle and pose newborns safely. They should be knowledgeable about safe posing techniques and be prepared for any potential safety issues that may arise during the photoshoot. In addition to the safety of the baby, the photographer should also be concerned with the safety of the parents and other family members who may be present during the photoshoot. The photograp ..read more

I know a lot of you are frustrated and desperate to get your Maternity shoots done before baby arrives, or your Newborn photos before baby gets too much older. I feel your pain, I want that too! I have noticed a few photographers are advertising that they are back to normal in level 3, and its fine to get your photos done, particularly if you get them done outdoors. I will not be photographing clients until level 2. Here are my reasons: - We are still meant to maintain physical distancing, while I could possibly stay more than 2 metres away from you, and my outdoor lens actually makes me stay ..read more

Older newborn baby session

This baby was 5 weeks old at the date of his session and as you can see that didn't make the slightest bit of difference! We got lots of lovely awake shots and sleepy shots, props, family and beanbag shots. #familyiseverything The only difficulty I had was keeping this wee boy wrapped up, as he was big and strong, but once again that isn't an issue and I change to work with baby. His needs are always paramount, we always stop for feeds and top ups, nappy changes and spills. I have some gorgeous, plain and simple little merino onesies in different rich colours, that work well in these session ..read more

I met this wee family a few months ago, Mum had booked in for her newborn and maternity sessions early and had come out to the studio to try on my gowns for her beach maternity session. The maternity session was beautiful, the soft evening light that Dunedin does so well and the colours of nature worked well with Mum and Dad's relaxed personalities, and their cute little doggy stole the show! Fast forward to this week, and they brought their beautiful, tiny newborn baby daughter to the studio for her session. What a delight to meet this tiny new human! Her gorgeous big eyes watched my every mo ..read more

I have a large wardrobe of gowns, but there is one in particular that has all the Mamas swooning! I understand because the first time I saw it I swooned as well. I think it is the utter prettiness and princessiness (word?) of it... the lace and the satin, the flowy skirt, the joy of it. I buy a lot of my gowns from Mii Estilo as they are very well made, the company is professional, they ship very quickly and are responsive to requests for customisation and information. I have been making a list of gowns for the new season and have found a few that seem to have the same "wow" factor as the pink ..read more

As my business has grown and evolved I have created a plan every year to ensure that it is growing in the right ways. One of the very important facets of this plan is continual education and advancement. The very most important thing in my business, the one person who is completely pivotal, upon whose happiness my livelihood rests...is your baby. Ensuring the safety of your baby is my number one responsibility. To this end I have joined a couple of industry associations. I am an accredited professional photographer with NZIPP to ensure that I am meeting safety standards, posing guidelines and ..read more

I tend to get quite attached to my families, I meet them at a very special time in their lives and often we just click. Since we moved to Otago 2.5 years ago I have been lucky enough to have many return clients and I have enjoyed watching their families change and grow. This family live a couple of hours drive away, and have faced difficult challenges, so it has been an absolute privilege to be asked to photograph their Maternity and Newborn ..read more

None of us are immune to the cost of living increases, and I hate to see my families missing out on photos due to interest rate hikes and the rise in the price of "everything", so I've decide to use my Christmas mini pricing structure to create short and sweet sessions that you will love. Unlike some other pop-up sessions that might feel rushed or impersonal, Peekaboo sessions are designed to provide personalised attention to each family. With a focus on capturing genuine moments, I ensure that every family's unique story shines through. 1. Quick and Convenient: As parents, you know how busy ..read more
