We're looking at cruise itineraries in the Caribbean . I always like to include a new port or two. We've been to a lot but there are still quite a few ports we haven't been to before: Bonaire, Curacao, Grand Turk, Puerto Rico ,BVI , Dominica, St Croix, Dominican Republic and Grand Cayman. Looking mostly for natural beauty, interesting architecture and photography, though shopping and food is good too! Not interested in adventure sports. A nice beach maybe for an excursion.   So tell me why we should choose Dominica ? TIA!  ..read more

  Hi. I will be getting on a cruise that visits Roseau, Dominica. Is it safe and easy to explore on our own by grabbing a taxi from the port/cruise terminal? My main interests are visiting the beach in a leisurely way and also taking in some of the city/island highlights. Most tours have very little time at beach so I would rather do an island tour /visit main attractions and visit the beach before or after. Any tours or tour operators you recommend? We used Waitukubuli Adventure Tours for our recent port call to Roseau, Dominica. We booked online in advance; the company has great communications via website as well as email. We were picked up at our ship, even though we were docked at the container port and not the main cruise port. Since it was a semi-private tour, there was another couple in the van with us. Our driver guide was Lennard, and he did an excellent job in showing us this beautiful island.
