I was wondering how long you need to wait after a burn until you see greater morel production. Is it not until a year after or could you go a couple weeks after a prescribed burn? I'm trying to decide on some hunting spots and was wondering if I should stick to areas that had burns last year or if it might be worth it to check out areas that have had burns recently ..read more

Having trouble finding black morels? I did too until I figured out what trees they associate with. Tulip, cherry, hickory and aspen are my go to in northern Indiana. One of my best black spots has cherry and walnut trees mixed, a spot most people would walk right past. Pick 100 out of that spot on good years, 20 on bad years. 10 years ago I could have included ash trees on the list but most are dead unfortunately ..read more

Hey fellow shroomers! I'm in northern Indiana and this warm weather we have been getting is getting the blood flowing, lol. Already been out scouting new areas, have two weeks vacation in May to strickly shroom! The earliest I've ever found one in Lagrange county is March 26th 2020. I'll attach photo. Here we are 2024 Morels will begin Popp'n up in our southern states ...
Approximately last week of February
Then by first week of April they will have slowly Progressed West & East & North
to the Ohio River into Indiana and will Continue Likewise all the way to into Canada by the End of June..
