When reading various posts and different dept SOPs, I wanted to see what some opinions are from people here about reserves having off duty powers for side jobs.
There are instances where per dept SOPs reserves do not have off duty powers, yet are still allowed to work side employment. How is this ? If a job is approved by the chief or admin, and a reserve is working somewhere and takes police action ….. will that hold up when the investigation reveals per his/her dept SOP they don’t have off duty powers ? Or are they considered “on duty” when the job was approved ? Anyone have any feedback ..read more
