Light Weights

I’m using a pair of 3lb. weights. You can use whatever weights you can find so long as they are the same weight and feel. Using no weights is also valuable. Unfortunately the podcast platform only gives one hour to record & I ran over my time limit so the ending is abrupt. You can finish the series on your own as the sequence is not too difficult to remember/repeat. —Welcome to Nucleus Strength; a Podcast devoted to Movement, Health, and Well Being. Strengthening your ankle/feet/toe will also Strengthen & fortify your shins, knees, and hips. We use a pair of Yamuna Domes known as Foot Walkers- but they are not necessary for the practice. You can also put a towel over the domes (or any surface) to make the pressure against your foot less intense. I hope you enjoy strengthening your lower extremities at least half as much as they support you throughout your daily life. Western Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice with many non-physical branches. The few ancient physical postures that did exist were closer to a sitting practice than anything else. In the 1920’s Tirumalai Krishnamacharya added Scandinavian/Western gymnastic type movements into the physical posture portion of Yoga. This series is inspired by him & his alchemy. I recommend at least two soft Yoga blocks, a Yoga mat with some traction & pads/towels as needed. Welcome to Nucleus Strength; a Podcast devoted to Movement, Health, and Well Being. How to Put Things Down and Pick Things Up
Nucleus Strength

This is a Classic Exercise that is often neglected. Starting from standing the goal is to bend the ankles, knees, and hips while simultaneously keeping your chest up as high as possible and only then setting an object down on a surface.  It sounds simple but the execution and practice are fraught with the temptation to do the opposite (putting something on the ground without an appropriate bend of the lower extremities).  Keeping your chest up while you bend the ankles knees and hips is not so easy it turns out; but a simple practice and promotion of fortifying principles will help i ..read more
