It was a Tuesday evening in late June, and Owen told Amanda he made dinner plans for their 6th anniversary, at The Sycamore in German Village where they celebrated their 1st anniversary. But first, he took her to nearby Frank Fetch Park – a gem of a park tucked away in the neighborhood – to pop the question! And she said YES! We celebrated with more portraits, but the surprise didn’t end there. We made our way to the restaurant a couple blocks away, where Owen indeed had reservations, but he had also invited some family to join in celebrating! Many of them had come in from out of town so Amand ..read more

Jan + Bruce celebrated their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary with portraits last month at the Main branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. It was a lovely Thursday morning, and we planned to stay cool from the summer’s heat and humidity, and instead take in all the beauty of the library’s historic areas and the stacks. We ventured outside for the last few minutes for some portraits in the nearby Topiary Garden. This is the second time I’ve made anniversary portraits for these two, and I just love that they celebrate this way ..read more

Christine + Simon! Their May wedding was a celebration of love, Columbus and 90s throwback jams at North Bank Park. And despite the forecast, it didn’t rain! It was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and we began our day with each side getting ready at the Westin hotel in downtown Columbus. Once each side was dressed and shared a celebratory drink (Simon’s side) or had a grand reveal (Christine’s side), we headed down the street to their venue, North Bank Park Pavilion, and separately – these two opted not to see each other until the ceremony! After separate portraits of each side with their at ..read more

Kristi + Amanda just spent a few months in Ohio for their latest job assignment. Their time here was about to end, but they wanted to squeeze in an engagement session here before they go! For their session last month, they chose to visit the brand new Canopy Walk at Blacklick Woods, which is such a cool spot! They came from Cincinnati on a Tuesday morning, and I loved exploring this new place for the first time with them. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday morning, but we found some less crowded spots that made it look like we had the place all to ourselves ..read more

Bridget + Lauren brought me all the way to Buffalo, NY for their big day in April! I had never been to Buffalo before, but guess what – I will go anywhere for a great couple in love! (Lauren also got her suit from Columbus biz Pursuit!) It was truly an honor for them to seek me out in Ohio and invite me to their hometown. The brides had a small wedding at a restaurant in downtown Buffalo overlooking the waterfront. It was a rainy day, but their smiles never left their faces! We began our day against at colorful mural down the street, continued with umbrellas, spring blooms and a heartfelt cere ..read more

Amy + Adam threw together their German Village backyard wedding in 3 weeks. Life is challenging and scary, but that spring day was beautiful and perfect. It was the third Saturday in April, when we got together at their German Village home and a nearby Airbnb as each side got ready. We met up at Schiller Park for their first look. We continued with a walk through the park and the German Village streets for portraits, against the brick-paved streets and alleys, flowering spring trees and evening light. Amy used her mom’s wedding veil as her train, I just loved it! We ended at their home, where ..read more

During our very first meeting about their wedding, when their potential engagement session came up, Clare + Tommy knew exactly where they wanted to go – Gateway Film Center! As huge movie buffs, it made perfect sense. I love nothing more than visiting a spot special to a couple, and this was such a fun spot! I’ve been to this theatre many times over the years, but this was my first time photographing there, or at any movie theater. Gateway was kind enough to give us access to a complete empty movie theater, and the couple brought their own popcorn, I set up some lights and we got some amazing ..read more
