The ever-present tug-of-war. Work vs. life. Emails vs. evenings. Deadlines vs. dinner dates. It's a battle we all fight, the struggle to find that elusive equilibrium between professional pursuits and personal fulfillment. But fear not, weary warriors, for today we sound the clarion call for work-life balance!  First, ditch the myth of the "perfect" balance. The word 'balance' may conjure up an image of perfectly synced sides of scale, which is misleading. Balance more often resembles the ebb and flow of the tide – sometimes, it will be more work-laden than others, but ultimately, this m ..read more

Hello! Long time no talk. I know I was supposed to be turning on the marketing juices during the quarantine, pounding out blogs and emails, however for me, it was a time to go inward, reviewing and honing processes, nurturing, and educating myself. Now that we are open and the world is slowly coming out of its cocoon, let's talk about our incredible Infrared Sauna and how it can assist your immunity system. If you are like me, I have found traditional dry or wet saunas extremely difficult to breathe in. I have never lasted more than a few minutes in them. Certainly not long enough to experienc ..read more

I recently posted on social media a request for future blog topics. I was excited that the post generated some great conversations and ideas. If there is something you would like to know about #floatationtherapy or #InfraredSauna, please email me at marie@redlotusfloat.com. The first topic in the queue is tips for meditation in the #floatcabin, but first, I want to shout out the book The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nat Han. This book simplified and demystified meditation for me. It is a relatively quick read and worth checking out if you want to know more about #mindfulness. TIP #1: Prepa ..read more

What we take from the float is just as important as what we leave in it.

Today was float #90 of #90Floatsin90Days. It is a milestone achievement for me. It required planning, showing up exhausted, making it happen when it was inconvenient, staying committed, and breaking through some deeply held convictions about myself. It has been a sublime experience, and I am grateful that I had the chutzpah to not only complete my self-appointed challenge but to share my progress. #vunerable During a conversation with a lovely couple who had just floated, the wife said: “sometimes, you don’t realize how heavy something is until you put it down.” I was moved because of the tru ..read more

Meditation is an enigma for many of us! We have all heard fantastic stories of people having outrageous experiences in meditation. Being transformed to another place, withstanding extreme temperatures or pain, changing the molecular structure of water, or finding #innerpeace that seems unattainable to the likes of the uninitiated. Yet, #science continues to prove over and over how beneficial meditation is for us mentally, physically, and emotionally. So, we try! If you are like me, regardless of the hours on the proverbial mediation cushion, you cannot help but wonder, 'Am I doing this right ..read more

First things first, let's talk about what 'self-care' is and isn't. What it is NOT is selfish, self-indulgent, or reckless. It is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's well-being and happiness. I am not talking about over-popularized and expensive spa days or trips to Italy. While those are lovely and can fit into a version of self-care, we will discuss more practical applications in this article. It is important to the overall quality of your life. 1. Schedule regular "me time" where you prioritize your own needs and desires. Many of us have become overcommitted and overw ..read more

Day 37 of #90Floatsin90Days Everyone’s experience is different, and I am grateful for the souls that come to float here at #RedLotusFloat and share theirs with me. My experiences have been somewhat subdued compared to some others I have heard! Fortunately, I have learned not to compare but to listen and put the information in my memory banks for someone who may need it. Ironically, many times, it is me! One young lady told me that she came to the float with an agenda. That she had some bs going on in her life that she needed to sort through. She said that she was able to do just that and felt ..read more

Today, 4 years ago, on #ValentinesDay, my brother Nocky died of a heart attack at the age of 46. Like any brother and sister, we had a few moments. Like the time at the bus stop in elementary school, an older boy was picking on him. I jumped to his ‘rescue’, which did not make Nocky my fan. Or the time that I let him borrow my car (against my parents’ rules), and he wrecked it! However, over the years, we grew very close, and his death is a wound that will never fully heal. In my mind, I hug him often and tell him how much I love him. I find comfort in telling stories about him, like this one ..read more
