April 15, 2020 Curt Melcher Director, ODFW Director Melcher, I was pleased to see that ODFW is reducing tags for some elk and deer hunts in Eastern Oregon. However, as I went through the list I was again disappointed to see that nothing is being done in regards to the deer and elk herds in the Minam unit. My daughter has been tagging along with me for 10 years when I go bow hunting elk in the Cascade mountains. Last years she decided she wanted to start packing a bow too. The reason hunting in Oregon will continue to decline and eventually go away is because we are overrun here with moronic people who really don't appreciate hunting or harvesting their own meat. Hey there. My son drew a cow elk tag for Santiam. We have until about the end of March I believe. I cannot quite remember the rules about antlers and national Forest land. I scoured the regulations but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I believe national Forest land is three-point or better for elk? I’m just trying to confirm whether this is the case.
