Hello, I have been trying to find out some information about the GPA ranges of admitted students, but the GPA section on the last couple of years of UMN Common Data Sets are blank. I know sometimes schools leave off certain information from the common data set, as it is voluntary reporting. But this information seems pretty basic, and it is disappointing that it has been left off. We have several college guides which give gpa ranges for UMN, but if the common data set doesn’t have them, I’m wondering where the guides get their data from?? I need help from the experts! I am trying to get daughter go visit UMN-TC since it checks all of her boxes and gave her a nice merit package. We went to the local session with her AO in the fall and came away with the concern that daughter might not have much flexibility as a student there. She was admitted for Biology but would like to explore other natural sciences and even take some Poly Sci or English classes, etc. Since Biology has it’s own college there and there is such a huge sense of pride and urgency on the 4 year graduation rate we just felt that her major might fee like a silo with ..read more

For those that are currently considering UMN, I urge you to join the FB parent pages, especially the U of MN parents, students, and community for safety on and around campus. to get a good picture of safety surrounding campus. Safety (and the school’s response to it) should be considered when making a final decision to attend any school. Hey everyone! Just got a quick question. So I applied to CSOM (first choice) and CLA (second choice) as a junior transfer, submitted all my materials to the Application Tracker 4 business days ago and got accepted into CLA. Does this mean I am automatically rejected from CSOM or are they still working on my app? I’m super confused because my application tracker only said “application complete” for both colleges and did not say I got rejected from CSOM. I also read online that people in similar situations got accepted into CLA super early on and got their CSE decisions two months later. Is CSOM ..read more

Hello, it is looking increasingly likely that my son is going to attend the University of Minnesota, but we don’t know a thing about housing. We visited campus last summer, but we weren’t able to tour any rooms (we did get to see the lobby and eating area at one dorm, but that’s it). Can anyone offer any general descriptions of the dorms/areas? My daughter attends a public university back east, and there are big differences between the various dorms and the general living areas on campus, and I was wondering if UM is similar.
