Many times the word of God goes out to people, but more times than not, the message is missed because the simple things of God are passed over by the individuals. This isn’t the case with Jacob. At 77 years old he’s finally getting the message and it’s becoming personal to him throughout all the areas of his life. It’s a beautiful thing when a person begins to grow in the Lord and the lights come on. In Genesis 29 & 30 we now see Jacob serving Laban and the Lord teaching him the reality of the character issues that need to be worked out of him. He sends Esau to hunt and prepare a meal. Meanwhile, Rebekah overhears and devises a plan for Jacob, her favorite son, to receive the blessing instead. Have you ever had to face the choice of remaining in the promises God has given or trying to play it safe by seeking relief apart from faith? This type of scenario is repeated throughout the Bible and our everyday lives as Christians.
