Can someone please explain why with the MDC having so much money, they can’t seem to get this project done! I personally don’t hunt there, but I know it’s a favorite spot for many hunters. It would definitely take pressure off other areas ..read more

Just heard this… MDC Conservation Agent investigated a report of lots of shooting on the Missouri River near Grand Pass. As he approached the area he observed dead Mallard hens floating down river. Landing his boat, he snuck in behind the hunters and videoed them shooting ducks over a goose spread. The hunters admitted their wrongdoing, a pile off empty shells and 40+ Mallard drakes in their possession along with the recovered hens. Maximum fines and several years of suspended hunting... It is time to take a look at how that pool is utilized. It finished the year off at 1.81 ducks per hunter average. Only the ADA blind had a lower average. The pool is surrounded on 2.5 sides with sanctuary or refuge, and Crane's Creek which finished with a 3.25, so it isn't like there are not ducks. Open it up, remove the touching the mound restrictions and allow people to get away from the blinds. Would need to add a couple of clearly marked crossovers to allow walk ins ( unless you know... My middle kiddo got a preseason reservation to Grand Pass for today. Pill 38. They're just now on pill 21. I just had the thought, "I could've stayed home and went deer hunting." Never imagined those words would ever cross my mind. The kiddo better kill his first duck today.....or goose.....or coot.....or swan. Maybe he'll shoot a bald eagle and they'll take me to jail and I won't ever have to do this again. On the plus side.....buy stock in Sitka & HeyDudes ..read more

Hope everyone had a good Christmas New to MO, been reading through the regs for hunting next season. (Didn’t have my stuff together this season with move) As I understand it, if I’m hunting public land, I buy a permit for the county the ground sits on? Almost seems like it makes too much sense which is why I’m asking. Thanks in advance ..read more

Does anyone have a sled blind for sale or I could rent for the rest of season in SE Missouri? I just bought some land and am about to start hunting it and want to try running a sled for the rest of the season before putting in a pit this spring. I’ve got some A-frames and layouts but my dad and buddies dad are up there in age and would do better with a little more structure ..read more

We went to the Kennett area last week for 3 days of hunting - 2 of those we never pulled the trigger (full days in the blind). Saw some geese but overwhelmingly saw mainly high flying migrators (especially on Tuesday) flying south. Some ducks high, but birds are just not there. We are scheduled to head back the 2nd week of January for another 3 day stretch, but if the weather doesn't get colder and birds aren't there, I think we are going to scratch that trip unfortunately. I love duck... Read more ..read more
