The engagement session is often the first time I get to meet a couple, and is often the only time I can spend some real time with them prior to the wedding day. It’s such a great opportunity to get to know them both and is always so fun for me. This beach engagement session at El Matador in Malibu was no exception. I loved getting to know Cayla & Corey a bit, and have a little adventure on this windy beach evening in Malibu. The beach has it’s challenges for a shoot, but it’s always worth it to do a beach engagement session ..read more

I had just driven over the hill from the canyon and was approaching a very foggy, cloudy beach for this Malibu engagement session when I got a call from Ryan. He was concerned about the thick fog blanketing the beach and throwing a wrench in our plans to have that classic California golden hour for our shoot. As can sometimes happen, the weather had other plans for this afternoon. However, I assured him not to worry and that foggy days are actually nice for flattering portrait light. When we arrived at the location, we were pretty much the only people there (another benefit of a cloudy evenin ..read more

Eleven days. That’s how long Marina & Matthew had to re-plan their wedding. They were supposed to have an intimate affair in St. Barth’s, one of their favorite destinations, but when pandemic travel restrictions prevented that, they pivoted to hosting a small party in Beverly Hills instead. Marina & her mom, Irene, run the Albright Fashion Library. When they realized a wedding in LA would be the best choice for them, they decided to use the Los Angeles location of the fashion library – a mid-century home high in the hills overlooking LA – as the venue. Like many couples in 2020, Hilary & Ryan had their original wedding plans thwarted by the pandemic. They had planned a big wedding at a venue on the beach to be filled with all of their friends and family, where everyone could dance the night away. They were heart-broken when they learned they would have to postpone. While they considered moving their date to the following year, they decided they just really wanted to be married. So, they pivoted to an intimate gathering in the fall where their nearest and dearest joined them for an outdoor ceremony and dinner underneath the city lights ..read more
