It is still snowing in our local mountains, but officially, Spring is here. We have started Daylight Saving Time again, nobody has heard anything from Dr Fauci in a long time, and you all have Corvettes, so there is really no excuse for staying home. I am anxious to see many of you who are still hibernating in your warm places somewhere. We still have monthly meetings on the first Thursday, thanks to Santa Clarita Lanes and Taste of the Town on the third Thursday, just because. Our Activities team is very busy planning events and runs and even invites YOU to contribute suggestions and leaders ..read more

Once again I have a blank page available to share my thoughts. A recap of fun Corvette events from the prior month and looking forward to future runs makes up my usual report each month with my wishes to all for a fun month ahead. All of those things are worth reporting just like every month, but right now we all need to think about how fortunate we are to be part of this long-standing Corvette club. We are an important part our community. We are still at full membership with constant interest from new members as well. Corvettes are our common bond. Fun and friendship is what holds us togethe ..read more

At the risk of being my own HIPAA Violation, I must thank the many of my fellow SCVCC members for their visits, calls, cards, and prayers just a few days following our January General Meeting. I missed class in medical school when the instructor told the class that tightness in the throat is “chest pain” and learned that it was related to angina. Moving along, my January changed with a few days at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, where blockage was addressed and I was turned over to the best home nurse, Judy, for safe keeping and some adjusted eating habits. Meanwhile, our club continued as it sh ..read more

What a year 2023 was. Our ever faithful Newsletter Editor Scott Gregory recaps the year better than I ever could on his Editor’s Page at the end of this edition. The only thing I might add is that this year, the SCVCC will go into its 46th year and with 2024 beginning, our club is better than at this time 365 days ago. I thank you all for helping this be possible by your continuing membership and support. December and the Holiday season has come and gone. It is a time for celebrating and then a time for looking forward to a new year. We always hope for a better new year and with your help our ..read more

Where has 2023 gone? Another 365 days completed at the end of December. It is good that we have an extra day for Corvette enjoyment to look forward to in 2024. It’s good too to have a great Corvette club where we can share our fun with like-minded Corvette people. We meet together, we dine out together, and we roll on runs together as a club. Our SCVCC helps make all of that happen! Our club, as you all now know, has had some recent organizational challenges that were in need of addressing. The fixes were made, and we are ready to begin a new year on the right track. However, there is always ..read more

Halloween has passed. October is over. November has arrived and with it, the Winter Holiday Season is upon us. Even though we once again return to Standard Time in a few days, there will still be 24 hours in each and every day. Veterans Day is on the 11th. Thanks to all of our Veterans for their service to our country. Will Rogers said it best, ”We can’t all be heroes; someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.” Then on November 23 this year comes Thanksgiving, a day set aside for reuniting, sharing a meal, and giving thanks in America since 1621. November in the Santa Clarita Val ..read more

It is amazing to me how many miles of decent back-country roads exist in northern Los Angeles County. We experienced several hours of premium Corvette driving on out latest Poker Run event in early September. Our run planner, Jimmy Webster, hit the jackpot with his latest route for this year’s Poker Run. The participation was for the event was high and our enthusiasm was at the same level. Thanks to Jimmy for continuing and improving the run and to the Websters, the Jewetts, the Ceos, and the Mondens for passing out envelopes in their assigned remote locations. Many thanks also to Mark and Ch ..read more

September has arrived. We still have some summer remaining and school kids have already been hitting the books for over two weeks. August was hot, but it always is. We sorta had a hurricane and an earthquake to bring Dr. Lucy Jones out of hibernation. We even had a surprise sprinkle just after final credits of Top Gun Maverick on movie night. Pretty much a normal August that you might read about in the Old Farmer’s Almanac. We had our August General Meeting at Santa Clarita Lanes with a near record turnout at our bowling alley venue. We enjoyed a delicious Taste of the Town outing for our fav ..read more
