On 4/20, the CAWM is honored to be among the honorees receiving the Leadership for Diversity and Inclusion award at the Massachusetts AAPI Commission's 16th Annual Unity Dinner. As a giveback to the community, CAWM purchases group tickets to the Springfield Thunderbirds game on Sunday afternoon April 14th, and offered them to the families in our local community. We had over 13 families attending the event. What an incredible experience at the Massmutual Center! 2023 is a monumental year for CAWM, with renewed commitment of a brand-new leadership team, last year this time, we embarked on a new journey, which, from that time point, full of uncertainty and unexpected challenges that we came to know. Dec 1st 2023, CAWM hosted the “Community Time” program at Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School (PVCICS). We are so happy that the students enjoyed the art and craft project of "柿事如意‘’ and the Wushu lessons by CAWM. Springfield Dragon Boat Festival: worth the wait!

After being postponed from July due to the water level, the Springfield Festival was finally a reality! Over 20 community and club teams participated the dragon boat racing throughout the day. The weather turned out to be perfect, not hot not cold, little cloudy so no UV irradiation ;), totally enjoyable. CAWM’s tent was a big hit! We had 3D dragon boat making, Origami, calligraphy, and a little dragon boat photo booth. With Zongzi tasting, face painting, all these free activities were big hits with long lines. Our Moon Festival Trilogy Tour has completed with a big success! From Sep 16th to 30th, on every Saturday, we conducted a culture tour at one of the local libraries. During the Tour, CAWM have provided the Mid Autumn/Moon Feastival experience for over 50 families and hundreds of people. Aug 26, 2023 is definitely a day worth remembering: CAWM Board held the 1st in-person Board meeting since Dec 2019! Since the pandemic started, we only had face-to-face interactions during our first in-person event (Asian Family Day) in Sep 2021! However all Board meetings were still conducted through Zoom all those time. Regardless, our team has evolved and grown so much and we are stronger than ever! It is official, the CAWM community dragon boat race team is established! 7/8/2023 is our first official team practice. Thank you Coach Betty from Poineer Valley Riverfront Club for patiently teaching the members the basics of dragon boating. We are so proud of our team members, even though for most people, this is the first time for them to be on a dragon boat, but they did fantastic job! Everyone had a lot of fun.
