You would brag too if you looked back on your life with all its poverty, self-doubt and haters and could FINALLY say I DID THAT SHIT. The world is a complete mess, but you don’t come to my website to read the world headlines, you come to watch me pat myself on the back. Here are my highlights of 2023: 1.Tours in London and all over the US. I can barely count all the states I’ve been in this year— Maine, NY, Indiana,Michigan, PA, AZ, CT, WI, AZ, NV... and prob a few more in there. I somehow spent a week in London! There was one trip where I ran out of clean underwear, had no time to do laund ..read more

2022: The year I actually caught on fire

It’s the time of year where I jerk my ego off all over my own website and hope my supporters feel happy for me and that my haters keep on hating. I had no idea that so much of what happened this year was even possible. But I also look back on how hard I’ve lived in the precarity of this artist’s life and feel so validated to finally be here. What is “here”? A place where I feel like I really can make a creative life that steers towards equitable social change without wondering if the floor will come out from under me at any moment. I’m grateful to all of those who had my back along the way. I ..read more

Greetings from Mexico City where I am on a much needed vacation! Not a tour of my show where I take a day off to sight see… an actual vacation with no performance obligation! In digging through my google docs, I found this essay I wrote in 2016 but never published— I think because I felt weird about showing you all how ugly my past was. Or maybe it was because I wrote this before Trump was sworn in and I thought I might very likely crash into this hell of survival again. Or maybe it made me feel like a creepy life coach who uses their “life wins” to make you feel bad that you can’t get here ..read more

It’s that annual year-end post where I do that circle jerk of one, and sum up the wins of the year. Like 2020, 2021 marked tragic loss for the world, humanity, the environment, democracy… et al. We emerged from the virus, only to find ourselves right back in it thanks to these goddamn covid variants (and vaccine hesitancy). But I will say I felt closer to my purpose for the world and incredibly proud of these moments of resistance that were carved. Here are the highlights: I continued to Overlord the Auntie Sewing Squad and after 504 days, we finally retired. Or shall we say “retired”? O ..read more

It’s that time of year where I do a circle jerk of one and count up all the things I’ve done this year so I feel like a somebody. ** No photos or videos this year because I can’t figure out how to embed either from the web in this new WordPress update. If you know how to do this, let me know. I ran for office and lost. Before the start of the year, I filed to run to be an ADEM delegate for the CA Democratic Party in my Assembly District. Here’s a Spectrum 1 news video where I explain what that weird election was. It was an exhausting run for a position that didn’t even pay. Most of the ..read more

2018 like 2017 was a rough freaking year.  My eyebrows are inexplicably missing of late (likely from stress).  I couldn’t stop looking at pictures of buffets today (Google says that maybe food fixation is about an eating disorder or anxiety).  And a bunch of beloved people in my community passed this year.  And in the last few months I had an unimaginable number of stressful situations charge at me. I look at pics of me from January and now and I have aged…  Oh god, how much I’ve aged. But I have some great memories from this year and despite the exhaustion ..read more
