Time for the 4th Richmond Crappie Club tournament for 2024! Sunday 5/19 7AM-3PM at Osbourne Boat Landing on the James River. Registration is from 6:15-6:45 at the boat ramp that morning. There’s no ramp fee and there are no minnows for sale on site so plan in advance. Everyone will draw numbers and I’ll announce a blastoff right at 7:00. We have lots of great prizes to give out! Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi folks,
I haven’t been fishing since I was a kid and wanted to get back to it this summer! I have a trip planned to colonial beach with some friends Memorial Day weekend. Any pointers? Would love general advice on what’s recommended. I plan on getting a rod and hooks and could use some recs on where to get bait.
Thanks in advance!

Richmond Crappie Club Chickahominy Lake tournament this weekend. Come on out and fish with us. Great folk, a ton of fun, and some great door prizes. Hope to see yall there. Tournament winners normally share information on how they caught what they did to help improve the crappie catching for everyone.

Hey! Fairly new to fishing, went out with my nephew in my new canoe. We went to Hugenot Paddle are near RVA on the James, didn’t catch anything using a variety of lures. Scottsville on the James would be closest for me or the Rivanna. How much longer is the fishing good? Just any tips in general for good spots?

Excellent article from the DWR.
This also highlights some places where bass need to be harvested, and highlights the dangers of illegal stocking of non native fish.

I really just want to catch one fish, it doesn’t have to be some big bass or anything I’d be happy with a bluegill or something. I’ve been out every past weekend for the last month and barely even getting a nibble. I know some of the spots I’ve been to have fish, I see them jumping around like crazy and other anglers around me seem to be catching stuff. Just please help me catch one fish
