I want to get Into policy making later Into my career for the aerospace industry, but I feel like that is too far off into the future right now. My councillor is recommending a Computer Science minor as she says it will be more practically useful. Should I try to get the political science major or stick to the Computer Science minor? submitted by /u/DaniyalShahbaz6 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Can anyone send me a PDF of the OJMS airfield diagram? Foreflight doesn’t provide a PDF and it doesn’t work for the purpose I’m looking for. submitted by /u/RaunchyMuffin [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Absolutely fantastic news! She made it to Oshkosh yesterday - I’m so jealous of those who are there to see her up close. This is a great article on the history of this very rare warbird. submitted by /u/aka_Handbag [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is Honeywell a good company to work for?

Curious because I always wanted to work for Honeywell but have no background in aerospace yet I heard that multiple people who I was coworkers at Walmart with went and got jobs there. One of them was a kid who was getting a degree in marine biology which isn't aerospace. I live in Phoenix and they have multiple locations in Tempe, near airport, and north Phoenix. I did apply several times to Deer Valley back in 2021 to be an assembler but got rejected. What would be some roles you could get into the company with if you don't have aerospace background? I'd love to get into cybersecurity/coding ..read more

I am an early career engineering and considering to my master's to eventually move up into leadership or program management. Which degree would be more recommended for me to do? MBA or Eng. Both are great management programs, but I would like to find one that tailors more to my career growth. submitted by /u/bluejay737 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any LA/ South Bay aerospace industry refugees here? How's everyone surviving the layoffs?

Things in the South Bay/ LA aerospace field seem like they are going to hell in a hand basket, at least in the primes. It felt like things were going somewhat well up until 2022. The double whammy of a recession/inflation and an election year is brutal. I'm basically looking for my 3rd position in 1.5 years due to contracts falling out. How's everyone else doing? Have you gone to a smaller aerospace company/startup? Just abandoned aerospace in general to a new industry? submitted by /u/dumbest_engineer [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How much external noise is from the airfoil vs engine on a modern commercial airliner?

Basically, I live 1.5 miles from the LGB runway on the approach side... 90% traffic is 737s. Some are noticeably louder than others, I assume due to their age. I got to thinking, how much less noise is there going to be over the next 10-20 years as the fleets modernize? At some point the airfoil noise is going to be the majority of it, right? EG if somehow a fully electric 737 was landing, how loud would it be? submitted by /u/LeeCheeRodriguez [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
