Has anyone noticed the 2 large asteroid/meteor strikes north and south of South America? Looks like one took out a land bridge. If you trace the strikes and imagine the tsunami wave sand....  look at North Africa, The Southern tip of Africa, and Australia. Look at the color of that sand! So many questions here! Thank you ..read more

Using Saltwater in Toilets

The title is pretty self explanatory. Seems like it may be a good idea to use the vast amounts of saltwater in the ocean for eliminating waste to the treatment plants, or maybe waste treatment could be looked at a little differently.    Or even to have the option to take a saltwater shower sometimes might be a good, even saving fresh water usage even more.    I wouldn't feel so bad pushing the flush lever if I knew the water were saltwater ..read more

Climate change

Could climate change be caused by the heat water (thermodynamics pollution) discharged by once-through cooled natural gas, coal and nuclear power plants that heated water is disrupting the ocean currents similar to the water pump in a car malfunctioning?   Experimentally, increasing the 400 ppm CO2 (.04%) in a small glass greenhouse to 3,000 ppm (.3%) does not increase the temperature differential yet one would expect a 13° F temperature differential at the upper 3,000 ppm CO2 concentration. In the last 100 years, the atmospheric co2 has increased by 200 ppm which would result in a 1° F i ..read more

What is meant by unsustainable in this context

Hello, I want to know what is meant by unsustainable in the following context from a book called Microbiology: a very short introduction.   Soils exposed by deforestation lack the physical structure, chemical composition, and indigenous populations of microbes needed to cultivate consecutive harvests of cereals and other food crops. Intensive grazing of cattle on deforested land is similarly unsustainable. Even in areas where soils are exceedingly rich, crop productivity falls without soil amendment with organic matter and inorganic fertilizers.   is it related to the continuity  ..read more
