There are several ways in which Asian Americans can benefit the community beyond just being a part of the boardroom. Although representation is a significant component of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Asian Americans can do more for our community by becoming mentors. Supporting the Asian community by offering networking opportunities and advice opens many doors for those trying to get into places that may have been challenging to reach without any connections within the industry. Even at the granular level here at Northeastern, Asian American students who have had co-ops can share their in ..read more

I would want to fix the overcrowding issue on campus. Whether it is overcrowding in dorms, dining halls, or study areas, it seems to be a prominent ongoing issue at Northeastern.  The post Fixing an issue on campus appeared first on Northeastern University Asian American Center ..read more

I’d love to see the underground tunnels expanded. Whenever it’s cold or rainy, I always take the tunnels between classes, but I really wish they went all the way to the Columbus side of campus. An issue that I want to fix on campus is the lack of public study spaces. Right now, two out of the four floors of snell are closed for renovation. This leads to a huge decrease in the already limited study spaces on campus. In the near future, I hope Northeastern works to expand its’ study spaces as this is a need for many students. As the last few weeks of the semester are approaching, I’ve been a bit more stressed with projects. I have two research papers and two other projects for my design courses which have been on my mind lately. I’m really looking forward to the end of the semester and finally getting a short break from homework and exams. I’ve also been thinking about how time feels like it’s moving so fast. I’ll already be in my last year at Northeastern soon which is crazy to me. The post what’s been on my mind… appeared first on Northeastern University Asian American Center ..read more

On campus, a wave of positive change is underway, and I’m thrilled to be at the forefront of this transformation. My passion for sustainability and environmental preservation has found a meaningful outlet in an initiative I’m deeply involved in—GenCo, short for Generation Consciousness. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to not just talk about change, but to be the change we wish to see in the world. At GenCo, we are pioneering the introduction of dissolvable laundry detergent sheets on campus. This innovative product is a game-changer in reducing plastic waste and eliminating th ..read more

On my Mind

Lately, I’ve found a serene state of mind prevailing in my daily life, possibly a reflection of the harmony I’ve achieved within myself, both spiritually and emotionally. That said, my thoughts have increasingly turned towards the future, especially as I navigate my third year at Northeastern University. Despite the advantages offered by the co-op program, the prospect of job hunting post-graduation carries its own set of challenges. The thought occasionally crosses my mind: the likelihood of securing a full-time position outside of Boston seems a tad uncertain. Hailing from New York City, my ..read more

Lately I’ve been very grateful about all the opportunities and experiences I was able to have and all the people I’ve met. There are so many events and clubs that I can look forward to every week where I am able to meet new people. Overall, I’m very grateful for such an amazing first year at Northeastern.  The post What’s been on my mind appeared first on Northeastern University Asian American Center ..read more

Something that has been on my mind is the fact that this semester is ending soon. It’s crazy how fast this semester went by, but I can’t wait for summer and my break before summer classes start. Something that has been on my mind lately is my future. I often think about where I’m heading in life and the different paths I can take. For example, I thought about what classes I might take in the upcoming semesters and how that could impact what interests I have in the future. I wonder what my life after finishing undergrad will look like. Will I be happy working a typically 9-5 or will I choose to continue my education? Both are important for me to consider and it’s been on my mind recently. The post What’s been on my mind appeared first on Northeastern University Asian American Center ..read more
