Jeanie Z, a long-time member here, is having a birthday tomorrow. Though she hasn't been on here for several years because she's in a facility where Internet access isn't something she can easily have, she's still very interested in this MS forum. I sent her a card with a note ..read more

Hi there, I am wondering if anyone has had similar to experiences to what I've been going through and can offer any insight? I am really struggling at the moment with everything due to these ongoing issues. A brief introduction is I'm 32, male, based in Scotland - I've had ongoing issues for around 2 years and haven't had much insight or help at all from neurologists. I've had diagnoses from BFS to FND to CFS. I've also never suffered anxiety or depression although this has majorly changed my life. Symptoms:- 24/7 muscle fasciculations (ongoing since February 2022). Legs, arms, spine, mout ..read more

Changing time twice a year is a nuisance. This weekend we spring forward, as the reminders put it in such a sprightly way. This state recently tried to end Daylight Saving Time and change to year-round Standard Time but that didn't go over ..read more

Sunshine 2's Keep On Moving thread - March 2024

Here is Sunshine's original message, being carried over in her absence (hope you are looking in, Sunshine, and doing better these days!) MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move. Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Tracked your count of steps? Chased your cat around the home? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can support and egg each other on. REMEMBER: this is a keep on moving thread, not ..read more

Good morning all! I'll try to make this brief. Over the past year I have been experiencing a group of symptoms that have gradually increased in severity and frequency over time. I have had neuropathy in my feet for just under ten years and I have had a slight tremors in my right hand that were not that severe or frequent. Last year I started to have involuntary muscle movements. My fingers would tap on my desk that I couldn't control. My tremors in my hand became much more severe. Eventually I started feeling my legs buckle underneath me. I've fallen a couple of times. Driving started to becom ..read more

MS Awareness Month

According to the MS Association of America, March is MS Awareness Month. Do you recall when you first became aware of MS? When did you first hear of it? Oddly enough, I hadn't ever heard of it until I was having a lot of crippling symptoms and wondering why, in my late 30s. When I told my mother that I hadn't ever heard of it before, she said, "Oh yes you did" and mentioned a family friend who had MS. I knew the gentleman and knew he was pretty much an invalid but never knew why. His wife and my mother were good friends and it must have been mentioned now and then in their conversations but ..read more

Here it is, March! We can think about spring, maybe? I heard about crocuses that have been seen blooming. What's new in your life? Do I recall that flatcap has new shoe? These shoes are made for walking! On another topic, does anyone remember the tooth fairy? I just learned that in my grandson's household the tooth fairy may be going on strike. Can the tooth fairy really do that? I asked my son if the tooth fairy would be visiting soon because their little boy will be 6 in a few weeks, and that's about the time when the baby teeth start dropping out. I recall really enjoying getting a coi ..read more

National MS Society terminates 90-year-old volunteer for questioning use of pronouns

The National MS Society told a 90-year-old volunteer with 6 decades of service that she could no longer volunteer with them because she had asked a question about why pronouns were being used in a new way in their materials. We shouldn't be discussing the merits of using or not using pronouns here as it's a hot-button political issue that people would find stressful, but the MS Society seems to be as guilty of ageism as are many other people in today's world. It's possible (it seems to me) that this woman of 90 just hadn't kept up with some of the changes in the language and was merely asking ..read more
