Hello all! I have two stingrays (Pico a Black Diamond Female and Pine a Pearl Female) in a 130 gallon aquarium (170 gallon system cause of 40 gallon sump - yes I am aware they will outgrow this tank). Both are very young (pico is about 5” disc diameter, Pine 5.5-6”). They live with a fire eel, 2 green phantom plecos, and a young flowerhorn. Water changes are 40-50% every three days or as needed to keep water quality good. current parameters are: Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10ppm... Treating Stingrays with Ich ..read more

I haven't been home in two weeks. To my knowledge he just gets fed hikari pellets every other day. Temp is roughly 86F. I did feed him a silverside before I left but I don't think that would do it given he's eaten hundreds of other fish in the 2 years I've had him ..read more

In the aquarium I have 3 female stingrays 25-30cm (bd, pearl and albino pearl) and a datnoid microlepis at 18-20cm. the last fish I added was on January 23rd, the albino, which came with less weight... Hi everyone, I got this perch on Tuesday and he ate a ropefish that was in the tank. He regurgitated it yesterday but now he’s just sitting on the bottom and barely able to swim. Should I treat it for swim bladder or what do you think I should do? Thanks ..read more

This albino Oscar, Tina (we think its a she), has had a pretty bad bout with HITH. She's been treated with Metroplex laced food, API general cure in the water, and 3% epsom salt laden food. She also seems to have some fin rot going on as a secondary infection so the final treatment in the tank was Polyguard for any external stuff. All meds are now out of the tank through water changes. The HITH progressed very... Advice sought to help Oscar heal after HITH ..read more

My rainbow cichlid is in a 40 gallon breeder with a divider, splitting up him and a Nicaraguan. The rainbow was fine this morning and when I walked by later, he looked like he was sleeping but swam when I got near the tank. I noticed what looks like a bruise. He ate no problem this morning. Any clue? No ammonia, no nitrites, 5ppm nitrates ..read more

I am writing this because it is something that comes up so often. Ich is a protozoal infection that afflicts fish and can rapidly kill them, most often by damaging gill tissue. The organism goes through a life cycle of; a small white spot feeding on your fish, which drops off to the floor of your tank and encysts, while encysted it divides into up to 2000 new mobile organisms, the cyst ruptures, releasing the mobile organisms which seek out a host. Only the mobile stage is vulnerable... One proven way to treat ich/ick ..read more
