Gents,
A buddy installed a Red battery switch on my fishing boat. I’m talking about the switch which shuts down power to avoid electrolysis (at least that is what I think it’s for).
With the newly installed switch in the “off” position, power to the engine and tilt motor is off. As in, turn the key nothing happens, and I can’t lift the outboard. This is as it should be (right?). In the “on” position I can start and lift her.
***However power to the console and lights is still on, even...

We had a very off year on wood ducks this year. Luckily we still had some good hunts as we picked up some other ducks to fill the void. The beginning of the year started off strong but we lost them mid season and never picked them back up in any numbers. We usually have a drop around december season/first of the year but they usually fill back in as the season progresses. Im hoping it was a one off weird year but im curious to hear what others saw in their areas? Alot has changed in my...

Good morning all.
This Saturday morning I'll be launching the boat with an outside temp of 27 degrees. My SOP has always been to run the engine at home on a hose/earmuffs before I head to the ramp. I cannot do this on Saturday because a 2 year old will be sleeping within 100 feet of the boat.......I will be unable to hunt if I wake him because I will likely be knocked unconscious by my wife...
I have been told by some shade-tree mechs that in weather this cold I will not harm the engine...

Happy New Year all.
I am looking at a new trailer for my 18-ft Carolina skiff. I'm considering aluminum instead of galvanized.
I'm looking for any advice/experience with this. What's obvious: aluminum is a bit more costly (but not much more, which surprised me), but has the benefit of not dealing nearly as much with rust. Any others?
Thanks. PM if you wish.

Hope everyone is having a good season thus far. I wanted to make a post for input and discussion of a float blind, mostly for use in the sound. I've hunted on the traditional scissors rig several times and know they can be extremely effective but also know they are a lot of work and require a lot of boat. Do any of yall hunt from float/boat blinds that arn't the traditional scissors rig style with any success ? I've got a blind on my boat but I've never hunted out of it in open water...
