On March 7, 2024 “Constitutional Carry” finally came to South Carolina. Only 232 years, 2 months, and 21 days after ratification of the Second Amendment. But who is counting?

We are having a Tri-County area meetup for South Carolina Carry at Brecks Steak House on 8510 Rivers Avenue on Saturday, February 24th between 4 pm and 6 pm. This is a 2a-friendly restaurant. They ask us to order off the menu and tip the hosts. The meeting room holds up to 25 people and we can use the dining room outside if necessary.

We will be meeting at Brecks Steak House on 8510 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston on Saturday February 24th between 4 pm and 6 pm.
This is a 2A-Friendly event so you can conceal carry or open carry. All they ask is that we order off the menu and tip the host staff. They can put 25 people in the meeting room and then put folks in the dining hall outside of the meeting room. It does not matter where you live. If you want to attend more the merrier. South Carolina Carry, Inc. (SC Carry) recently assisted the coordinated efforts of Mr. Graham Horsman, Attorney Lauren Martel, South Carolina State Senator Shane Martin, South Carolina State Representative Matt Leber in getting the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) to immediately remove the “no concealable weapons allowed” signs from Charleston County parks.
In August 2021, CCPRC first erected three-foot by four-foot signs at all Charleston area parks prohibiting the carrying of firearms on over 11,000 acres of public lands and subjecting concealed weapon permit holder ..read more

Since 2021, the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission has banned the carrying of concealable weapons on over 11,000 acres of public lands.
The South Carolina Attorney General has opined that this ban is unlawful because South Carolina law expressly prohibits local government from regulating firearms.
As a result of this unlawful firearm ban, concealed weapon permit holders who wish to exercise their constitutional rights are subject to fines, arrest, and imprisonment.

There are currently two "active" bills named "Constitutional Carry" bills in South Carolina, both of which are in the Senate. House Bill H3594, which passed the House in February, and Senate Bill S109, which has not yet made it to a vote on the floor of either chamber of the legislature. Whether or not either of these bills make it through for a vote on the Senate floor before the end of this half of the session, which is Thursday, is yet to be seen. It may be next year before they are considered again.
