A very rare record by Ralton’s Havana Band was recently donated to the AJM.The disc was recorded in Melbourne mid 1925 and consists of a thin coating of shellac bearing the grooves , supported on a thick cardboard base. This unusual technology was developed by British inventor and entrepreneur Noel Pemberton Billing and the discs were pressed at his factory in Brighton.#jazz #australianjazzmuseum #australianjazz #rare #raltonshavanaband #noelpembertonbillig #history #culture #art #preservation #vintagemelbourne #1920s Posted by Intagrate Lite ..read more
