Well, fishing should be GREAT next summer/fall! Not sure about the following year... The Delaware Aqueduct has been leaking upwards of 35 million gallons per day since the 1990s. In 2010, New York City announced a $1 billion plan to repair these leaks. After a decade-plus of coordinated, technical, engineering study, planning and modeling, the DEP is planning to temporarily shut down the Delaware Aqueduct in October 2024 to complete the repair. Starting in June 2024, the NYC Delaware Basin... Read more ..read more

Got back from a few days at the Dream Catchers on the West Branch. All and all pretty slow. I spoke to guys fishing from Stilesville to Deposit to Hale Eddy down to the Gamelands even the Main Stem and the East Branch and the story was the same, slow. I managed a fish or two nymphing in the mornings. At about 3:00pm some sulphers would start to come off and there were a few sporadic rises. If I was lucky I got to cast to a few fish every evening and managed one or two here and there. Got... Read more ..read more

Delaware Aquaduct Shutdown I caught the last half of the Zoom presentation last night on plans for the Aquaduct repair planned for this year, beginning in the Fall. I conclude that, for 2023, it will result in either: 1. More water in the WB. or 2. Less water in the WB. or 3. No change relative to an average year. The plan is to draw down reservoir storage to minimize the chance of major flooding during the ~ 6 months of repair time, when there will be no diversion flows. Not clear... Read more ..read more

Why fish the Upper Delaware River?

The Delaware River in NY/PA, is home to a diverse population of fish including brown trout, rainbow trout, some brook trout (Most likely stocked), and smallmouth bass. The Delaware River is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, making it a popular destination for anglers and nature enthusiasts. This might not be the best reason to fish the D, but there are many public access points on all 3 branches of the river (East, West, & The Mainstem). It would be great if someone...
