Can wireframes generally be reused to start prototype?

Do platforms like Penpot and Figma have the ability to convert wireframes into the next step for prototyping? I’m a complete beginner. I never thought I would create an app, but I think I have a really good cocept, and a ton of ideas are really flowing , so here I am. I have done a bunch of wireframe layouts in a CAD application, but now I plan to switch to using a dedicated app development platform. I will probably use Penpot, but I’m still considering Figma. I tend to get more detailed than I should as I’m wireframing. I already have a lot of designs that I plan to import via SVG files. I d ..read more

Database storage for iOS app built in Swift

Background: I am a total newbie to iPhone app development. I have solid experience with web app development, though (full stack). I have almost completed MVP1 of an iPhone app. Developed using SwiftUI. At a high-level, the app lets the users store personal data about themselves and see logs, analytics, trends, etc. Currently, there's no interaction between different user's data - the user just sees data that they have input themselves. This very much could change in the future. The app also may not stay only on iOS. We may migrate in the future so it can be used by Android etc. too. Right now ..read more

Hello everyone! I am a professional web developer and have been for multiple years. However I really want to try my hand at app development. Is there any softwares that you recommend I give a try or languages I need to learn? I was thinking about learning python (I have beginner knowledge of it but not much more) because I heard that is a great language for app dev, but honestly I really know nothing about any of this and am eager to jump in and give it a shot! submitted by /u/OvenActive [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey I am student doing a project on a mobile app as a business plan. Our app idea is similar to a dating site but instead we match people with partners for recreational sports (e.g. golf, tennis, pickleball). I am having a heck of hard time coming up with cloud server costs and capacity requirements. Also development and maintenance fees if anyone has any insight, I would greatly appreciate it. submitted by /u/Less-Magician1551 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Best Platform for a Map-Based Regional Guide App? (Flutter vs. React Native)

I’m developing a map-based regional guide app and trying to decide on the best platform for cross-platform development. The app will include: Map with flagged locations that display listing details User ratings and reviews for each place Filtering by categories (e.g., family-friendly, free events, outdoor activities) Notifications for new events and places I am considering two options: Flutter Pros: Google Maps integration! Concerns: Larger app size, reliance on third-party packages. React Native Pros: easier to maintain...maybe? Concerns: Mixed feedback on map performance and animatio ..read more

Hello everyone, I rewrote my video app using Kotlin and Compose.

Because my app was previously written in Flutter, and there were many problems with performance and interaction, I rewrote my app in Kotlin and Compose and published it on the Google Store. Compose syntax is very similar to Flutter, which can reduce a lot of learning costs for me, and Compose performance is better than Flutter, which can provide users with a continuous user experience. My app is WeTube, which is a lightweight YouTube client that can play YouTube videos without ads and supports background playback and free resolution switching. I am still new to the Compose community. Please l ..read more

Alright everyone, I’m here for advice and guidance. I have no experience coding, or training AI programs, yet I have an idea (in agriculture) that can use both to be very profitable. It targets providing a solution to an issue in the ag market I am in. This problem affects >95% of this niche market share. Where do I start? Where do I learn? What do I need to learn? Should I secure investors, or do it all myself? Should I pay someone to do it professionally? Should I partner with a developer? I have had bubble.io recommended to me. My plan as of now was to create a wireframe, begin design o ..read more

Any Indie Devs Publishing on Google Playstore? How do you get around the Reviews issue?

I published my first game, WordRun, at the end of last year and I have really been struggling with getting reviews even after crossing the 1K downloads mark. I had another app published to Play around 2021/2022 but that was a dating app and the reviews started showing as soon as I hit 7 reviews. Usually there are far more policy requirements for dating apps compared to games so I thought things would be easier but now it seems Playstore has upped the game and needs way more reviews and from different types of devices so that they can show publicly. And without the reviews showing, one's game ..read more

Do you have ads in your app and are they even profitable or just an inconvenience?

I am talking about mundane apps that the user won't use on a daily basis. As an example: We were having a board game night and in order to determine who will start my friend used an app where every player puts their finger on the screen and one will be randomly selected. When we wanted to use it, we had to watch 2 ads. Now my question is: have you published a similar app/tool which is typically used only from time to time and where you have implemented ads? Is this profitable? Do you offer a paid version? Which option do your users prefer? Any insights or stats would be highly appreciated. Ch ..read more
