I have a web site that was doing really well in Google searches, but after changing the site somewhat, our best link https://heritageleadplanters.co.uk/product-tag/current-range-of-lead-planters/ came up with a page not found. I put a redirect on the URL which worked fine, but have now fallen down the rankings. After changing the site the new page then became https://heritageleadplanters.co.uk/range/. Is it possible to duplicate the range page and allocate the /product-tag/current-range-of-lead-planters/ to it, this being the url that Google was referring to. I have duplicated the page but eve ..read more

Can I install and use an 'npm package' such as ChartJS/OpenLayers in my static website on github pages, or do I need a host that supports NodeJS?

For context, I am junior GIS developer, self-teaching. I am developing a practise dashboard with ChartJS and OpenLayers, but I am trying to move beyond external CDN links to packages and get familiar with NodeJS, so I install packages locally with npm. OpenLayers also must be installed locally through npm, as there is no CDN link for the latest version, so I am kind of forced to use this approach now. Every answer to this question seems to jump on the "NodeJS" part, stating correctly that NodeJS needs to be hosted somewhere that can run server code. But this is irrelevant to me. The packages I ..read more

I am making a website, and part of it will have dynamic content, as well as easier for me to manage as there will be less code involved. for example, The website.com/home page, /users page and /payments etc pages are all static and managed by an admin panel that someone has built for me, with its own Database. however I want to have a website.com/news /blog /contact pages, in which are built on wordpress, as it is much easier for me to make, since I have more experience with it, thus I can make contact forms to my email, dynamic blog posts, etc without needing to code it since im not that expe ..read more

Web interface to search multiple text files and return result

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask but I'll try anyway. I'm not sure of the correct way to go about this. I have many text files that are transcripts with time stamps. I need a way to search through these for key words that a user inputs. I would like to return the time-stamped section of text and a link to the file or an associated audio clip that the transcript came from. I think my question is too vague and I don't currently know enough to narrow down the best way to do this. Any insight would be appreciated ..read more

If I make a website design using WebFlow, then export it and edit functions, links with the backend etc outside, how can I redit the design?

I am using one of the templates on WebFlow to give me somewhere to start, and am going to create the website design first without functionality, then export that to html or Java. With that design the web dev is going to implement functionality with the back end, functions, admin panel, payment protocols etc, after this is done it will be hosted. my question is, if I want to edit the website later, I cannot just import it back into WebFlow correct? what would be the best editor, preferably visual, should I want to edit it? Also, if we choose to instead host everything on WebFlow including the a ..read more

I want to generate the sitemap automatically with php code. My website is built in core php. I have not enough knowledge. We are updating numbers of our website on daily basis (10 posts) per day. How to rate limit visitors voluntarily opening hundreds of tabs? [closed]

I am recently facing an issue with some haters opening hundreds of tabs on my website to put it down. It's a Wordpress website hosted on a VPS with a 12 threads CPU and 48 GB memory with PHP 8.1. It uses LiteSpeed cache for both logged in and out users, with some private cache rules for ajax-based page fragments. It's protected with Cloudflare free plan but the problem is that it's seen as legitimate visitors when it's not really. I can't find a clean solution to limite a single IP address to a maximum of XX requests per second or minute. The only thing I found on stackoverflow is a PHP script ..read more

Following the recent Helpful Content Update (HCU) in late 2023, my website has experienced a significant drop in traffic. I'm interested in knowledge relating to the HCU update made in about September. For example, I've gleaned that Google is shifting toward highlighting user-based content such as forums such as Reddit and Quora. Are there specific, proven SEO strategies that have been effective in counteracting the impact of the HCU on website traffic, according to recent studies or data ..read more
