I think the one on the right in the picture is a male due to the dark spot on the neck and it’s bigger in size & this is one of their recent offspring in the last picture. Any thoughts?

Midwest USA. Also question, can I freeze nectar (sugar water) into tiny cubes and store them in my freezer until needed? I check my feeders ever day, sometimes I'm in a hurry and don't have sugar water on hand. Could I freeze it? How long is it okay in liquid form in the refrigerator?

I live in Southern Orange County California and we get a good amount of Anna and Allen hummingbirds in our backyard. This one showed up in January and is definitely more territorial than the others and he has a very distinct wing sound compared to the others so just curious if it's a Rufous.

This image doesn’t do this hummingbird justice. Has brilliant yellow green iridescent plumage, unlike the black chinned or ruby throated hummers we normally have. might this be a female Rufous hummer? Fort Worth, TX, early May 2024.
