So I’ve been photographing weddings for a little while, from Manchester to Cushendall, Stockport Town Hall to the Shropshire countryside, in churches and barns, big back gardens and teeny tiny registry offices, in bright sunshine and pouring rain. Mr Cobane and I also celebrate being married for ten years this year, so I like to think I’ve learned a little bit about what really matters and what really doesn’t… what’s my advice? Write your guestlist first Your wedding is likely to be the one time in your whole life where everyone you both love will be in the same room together. Do not let y ..read more

It was quite hard to stop at ten… Revelations by Miss Krystal Balls SFTOC is a mind, body and soul experience. I can’t divulge t ..read more

A Manchester City Centre Wedding... in black & white

Sarah and Mark got married in the very lovely Fountain House in Manchester. It’s a fab city centre venue with a ceremony/ wedding breakfast room upstairs and a lovely, intimate bar on the ground floor. Not to mention a fab staircase separating the two… The bridal party got ready in The Midland Hotel in a beautiful suite, before making the three minute trip across Albert Square to the ceremony. This was a gorgeous, relaxed wedding and as the groom wasn’t originally too keen on having a wedding photographer… a chance to show off my incredibly cool and easy going skills… And they couldn’t be ..read more

2023 weddings will start this month for me and its a very exciting time!!! Some people love being in front of the camera but loads don’t (including me). So how do you cope when you need photographs for your business, album cover or wedding day? Here’s a few  thoughts that might help you out.  Think about the style of photography you want. Research photographs you like and have a look at the kind of poses other people do that seem to work If you are booking a photographer meet or call them. It’s important you get along well and share the same kind of creative vision. There’s no point hiring someone who creates big staged photos if you want a candid, natu ..read more

Salford Town Hall Wedding: Regina & Ade

Regina contacted me about two weeks before her wedding to Ade. The happy couple had held their wedding day in South Africa and were having their legal ceremony back in sunny Swinton! Having already had quite a few wedding photographs taken, my brief was to document the ceremony and to take a beautiful family photograph Regina and Ade could have framed, as they didn’t manage this at their South African wedding. After a lovely conversation over the phone we were all booked in and set for the big day. I arrived early to find some locations for the portraits and have a quick chat with the Registr ..read more

I met Wunmi at a networking event in Manchester. We hit it off while making a brew and when Wunmi heard I was a photographer she said she needed some new photographs for her website. This mindset coach is decisive! We booked in a little consultation to talk through some ideas. Wunmi has a really diverse range of clients and needed some bright, real, intentional photographs that also show her approachable and friendly style of coaching. We had a chat about locations for photographs in Wunmi’s home and nearby and also had a quick styling session, choosing outfits that would compliment a nice sl ..read more

Bangor Wedding: Louise & Steve

My good friend, and talented photographer in her own right, Louise asked me to photograph her wedding to Steve way back last year. These two are a beautiful, laid back couple with a gorgeous baby boy and I knew the day would be fab. It did not disappoint!! We had a little engagement/ pre-wedding/ family shoot in Stroud a few weeks before the wedding. This is a great way for couples to get used to the camera and for me to see how people react to being photographed. Baby James’s frowning was an instant hit. The big day itself was held in Bangor, N. Ireland (the bride’s home town) on a beautiful ..read more

I need a new profile pic but don’t want to look ‘like a knob’

Happy New Year! 2022 here we come…  So I asked my mates for ideas on blogging and one good friend suggested this. I did consider rewording the title but in truth isn’t this what many of us think? And maybe the fear puts us off updating that profile pic or moving away from that giant letter on Teams or whatever.  I understand this feeling. I needed a photo of my actual face for my website. The one I liked from my wedding just didn’t cut it any more. It did not say ‘hello I’m a photographer’. I know a few photographers and would have happily paid for a great shot, but I just didn’t tru ..read more

How can I take better photographs for my business?
Breige Cobane Photography Blog

Lots of people have an eye for photography and can take great pictures with their phones, but what if you’re not one of them? As a photographer I love to see people and products shown off in the best way, so here’s my top 5 tips for taking better photographs for your business: Lighting is everything and natural light can be beautiful. Find the best soft natural light in your home or workplace and place yourself or your product in it. Check everything in the frame. What is in the background? Is it there because it adds to your photograph? If not remove it. Experiment and have fun! Take ..read more
