Work in the Winter

How does Encore work in the winter?  How do they get their units started in -30 to 40 degrees Celsius below? When the ‘winds of November come calling’, you better be ready. Not just the operators, but the gear. When Winter comes Encore is fortunate enough in the capital district to have enough available garages and indoor storage to put nearly everything we need for the next day inside.  A warm truck in the morning is a wonderful thing.  It is truly the LAST piece of a cold war plan, for how to cope with Canadian winters.  But a tough, expensive fix.  You need land, bu ..read more

A day in the life of Heavy Haul Transport…………. As we plan and execute yet another day here at Encore I watch out the window as our two biggest trailer combinations head out the main gate to load in excess of 220000 lbs. combined. Is this typical, or daily, not yet, but it is becoming more and more frequent as we get our name out as a mid-heavy transport company, and with great success. We are moving a 120000 lbs. RT crane and a 100000 lbs. excavator to different corners of the province today and the weather is less than perfect, snowy, lower visibility but safe for the seasoned professionals w ..read more

The long reach of the crane into the skyline is a familiar sight. With booms reaching almost 200 ft, Encore’s boom trucks have become part of this landscape.  Growing up, working, and living in this environment has allowed us to carefully select specific brands and models of cranes; and further adapt them to work in the Alberta Industrial market.                 We always focus on the control part of the equipment, and how smooth it can move, lift, and swing.  There are definitely better, higher quality machin ..read more

Encore Projects Preparation is key Our project work can be one of Encore’s cranes on-site for days or weeks at a time, but most sites need much more support.  If there is equipment, or product to deliver to the site, Encore has tilt decks, winch tractors with live roll trailers,  flat decks of all types, high boys, step girls, transforming decks, and boom trucks able to load and transport to the site.                At the site, hydraulic trailers and winch packages can offload and if another assistance is required ..read more

Mini cranes  https://encoretrucking.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/minicranes.mp4-540p.mp4 Before Encore became a mini crane fan and dealer, we bought an old one, 2.9 ton, sight unseen, from an auction in Vancouver. It was an odd-looking package, with spidey legs, worn tracks, and faded paint, but it started easily, and all the crane and drive functions worked. We knew this machine could access sites that were impossible for any other lifting machine in the business, at 24 inches wide it could walk into the bathroom. But was that enough? it seemed so tiny around our 18 and 50-ton truck cra ..read more

Location, Location, Location Located just off the Yellowhead on the Eastern edge of Edmonton; Encore’s spacious yards are easily able to accommodate the largest loads for storage. We keep our power units and trailers to the outside and leave a large working area in the center. This allows 100 ft plus loads to enter and make a complete circle without encountering any obstacles or stressing the operator. For our use, it is a great staging area and gives everyone room to work, dolly off, or switch trailers. A flat piece of packed grave, contoured for drainage and maintained to smooth and ..read more

The problem with Forklifts.

The problem with Forklifts.   Encore moves a lot of gear, every day.  Some of it was ideally suited to a forklift application.  We could usually get creative with our cranes and get the job done, but we needed a forklift.  And we ran into THE PROBLEM.  In a  business like ours, working for multiple industries, servicing many clients, many needs.  One forklift was not going to do it.                  And the one you need most, the BIG one, is by far the most expensive.  Nearly ..read more
