Forget about losing 17-0, who gives a shit, the Chicago Cubs almost had another catastrophic injury during Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox. Christopher Morel collided with Alexander Canario down the left-field line to end the seventh inning and for a few minutes Cubs fans were in full-blown panic mode. This looked awful and then Morel was taken out of the game. Canario and Morel collide. Sports Mockery

The Chicago Bears got five players in their 2024 draft class. By most accounts, they did really well. However, GM Ryan Poles isn’t done. He still has 17 remaining roster spots to fill. That means the Bears should be active on the undrafted free agency market, hoping to find more depth and maybe a hidden gem or two. The madness has already started. Here is a tracker we shall keep updated with names as they come in. The Official Pro Comparisons For Every Chicago Bears 2024 Pick Are Bonkers
Sports Mockery
by Erik Lambert

The Chicago Bears have concluded their 2024 NFL draft. All told, they finished with five total picks. GM Ryan Poles calls it an “impact” draft for the team. There seems to be a lot of excitement about it. At first glance, it’s hard to understand, given so few members of the group. However, upon closer inspection, you start to understand. There is a ton of talent among those five young men. You could make a case the Bears got the first or second-best player at his position in three out of those four picks. Often, a good way to gauge how strong a class potentially is is to look at its pro compa ..read more

Sports Mockery

The first night of the 2024 NFL Draft will go down as a franchise-altering event for the Chicago Bears as they selected quarterback Caleb Williams first overall and then wide receiver Rome Odunze ninth overall. General manager Ryan Poles’ rebuild of the Bears’ roster since the beginning of 2022 is complete, as the offense will take the field in their first game of 2024 as a completely different roster. Although Poles has proven himself as a solid talent evaluator, he has been aided by sheer luck that helped put Chicago in the dream scenario that was last night’s first roun ..read more

Sports Mockery

The Chicago Cubs have made a trade with the Boston Red Sox. According to Red Sox beat reporter Chris Cotillo, Boston has finalized a deal with Chicago to acquire veteran first baseman Garrett Cooper. Earlier this week the Cubs designated Cooper for assignment after he played in 12 games for the team. Cooper was a late signing by the Cubs, picking up the right-handed hitter in early March and inking him to a minor league deal. Cooper earned a spot on the Opening Day roster, but once Patrick Wisdom was activated from the injured list, the playing time for Cooper was destined to be cut short and ..read more

Has One Pitcher Really Saved the Cubs Bullpen? Kinda
Sports Mockery

I mean, we know that it’s a group effort, but also, ever since Keegan Thompson was called up two weeks ago the Chicago Cubs have a top-3 bullpen in MLB. So yeah, kinda. It also helps that the starters are finally going a little deeper in games and the bullpen isn’t getting exhausted every series, but there’s no denying that Thompson’s revival on the mound has helped out the Cubs so much since he was called up from Triple-A. Thompson made his fifth appearance of the season for the Cubs Friday night against the Boston Red Sox and shut down the opposition like he has in his previous four outings ..read more

Ryan Poles Pulls Shocker, Trades Back Into Draft To Steal Pass Rusher
Sports Mockery
by Erik Lambert

Ryan Poles said he might do it less than 24 hours ago. If the right player happened to fall on Day 3, there was a chance the Chicago Bears might trade back into the draft. Sure enough, that is exactly how it played out. The Bears sent a 4th round pick in 2025 to the Buffalo Bills for Chicago’s original 5th round pick they gave away for Ryan Bates. Poles then used the selection on gifted Kansas edge rusher Austin Booker, whom many experts gave a 3rd round grade. Just like that, the Bears have addressed every position of need. What a weekend. Booker fits the Bears’ profile. He’s 6’4 with 34-inc ..read more

Cubs Respond to Pete Crow-Armstrong Controversy
Sports Mockery

A fan feels misled after trading in Pete Crow-Armstrong’s first career home run ball for what he believed to be the rookie’s game-used bat from the very same at-bat. Now, the Cubs have responded with their own version of the events. The Cubs’ number one prospect was called up earlier this week following Cody Bellinger’s rib injury and on Thursday Crow-Armstrong started in center field against the Houston Astros. The left-handed batter hit a game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning at Wrigley Field. It also happened to be his first MLB hit.  Derek Mitchell was the f ..read more

Chicago Bears Conclude Draft With A Bang, Take Draft’s Best Punter
Sports Mockery
by Erik Lambert

There were hints for months that the Chicago Bears might not be satisfied with Trenton Gill’s work as punter since last season. His improvement had leveled off and wasn’t yielding the results they wanted. There were rumblings GM Ryan Poles might look for competition. It turns out they opted for an outright replacement. Their fourth and final pick of the draft became Iowa punter Tory Taylor, widely viewed as the best in this class and one of the best to come out of college in years. He averaged over 48 yards per punt last season, displaying a booming leg and strong accuracy. Initial comparison ..read more

Former Bears All-Pro Voices Concerns Over Chicago’s First-Round Draft Approach
Sports Mockery
by Dave

When the Chicago Bears chose QB Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze in the first round of the NFL draft, it received widespread praise from Bears fans, opposing fans, draft analysts, and most media members. However, some have pointed out that the team had other pressing needs, such as edge, defensive tackle, and potentially left tackle. Former Bears All-Pro and current media member Olin Kreutz shares that opinion and believes the Bears may have made a mistake with their selection at number 9. “I like [Rome] Odunze. He’s awesome,” Kreutz told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune “But I don’t know ..read more
