This Newsletter is Moving!

After much internal debate, I’ve decided to host my newsletter on my own domain. Substack IS a great platform, but at the end of the day, it remains someone else’s platform. Considering the recent instability of 3rd party platforms (social networks , etc), I’m most comfortable with the idea of having all/most of my stuff hosted on my own website. If you want to keep up with my speculative fiction writing-related shennigans, please Subscribe at: www.tonyarmoore.com/subscribe. With this well-known video clip, my dear SUBSTACK newsletter friends, I bid thee farewell! (I’ll still be reading and ..read more

I’ve completely overhauled my author website and added new flash fiction, short story, and webserial sections. There’s even an entire, detailed “About Me” page now, which I’ve be strangely avoidant about taking the time to write for many years. www.tonyarmoore.com One of the stories newly added to the site is Mermaids are From Outer Space, please check it out—and if you do read it, enjoy! There will be some changes to my posting frequency and content variety on substack as I transition back to blogging on my own domain. For the time being, I’m considering a monthly newsletter via Substack w ..read more

The Webnovel Experiment

You may… or may not have noticed that I haven’t been updating my space opera webserial The Lore of Hegira on Substack lately. This is because I’ve been experimenting with a few different platforms such as Amazon Kindle Vella, (Royal Road - not published, only considered), and the VOCAL Chapters community. My aim was to see which if my webserial would perform well on any of these platforms. Short answer: it did not. Since The Lore of Hegira did not seem to be getting much traction on any of these platforms, I decided to try something new. I’ve known about webnovel.com for quite some time but ..read more

Lily and Snow

“Snow, I’m hungry.” A bitter blade of grass sticking out of one side of his mouth, the hazel-eyed sylph turned his head to glance at the girl who murmured his name. Side by side, they sat on the ground with their backs pressed against the trunk of a thick, old naseberry tree. Rain had come briefly, hours ago, and gone. Now Lily, barefoot, curled her dainty toes into the soft damp grass.  She smiled sweetly at Snow while twirling a finger in her wild, blue mass of curls. Willowy and bird-boned, she looked like a doll that would break at the slightest touch. In the moonlight, she was ent ..read more

I admitted to the hospital again, this past Sunday. This time, for congestive heart failure—the result of excessive fluid on the lungs. I was, thankfully, discharged last night, but I’m still not back to 100%. It will probably take me a few days to catch up on all of my projects and reconcile my posting schedule. Yesterday’s episode of The Lore of Hegira has been pushed back to next Tuesday. Apologies for the inconvenience and thanks, as always, for your continued patience and support ..read more

Tribute

Rasta man gone astray, the devout artist had adopted flesh for his canvas. Everything about him was dark, the curl of his brows, and even his countenance when he eased back and stood, studying his handiwork. The silent woman in the claw-toed tub sat leaning forward. The thick braid of her hair was twisted into a knot. Like his hand, the bathwater was muddy with her blood and neat little slivers of her skin. The pattern three quarter ways carved into her back was Yggdrasil. Gnarly roots coiling deep down into the core of the earth. Knotty canopy cradling nine heavenly blossoms. “What you cra ..read more

Devious Machines

Ginger conjured a river. A cool, dark river. The bottoms of her feet tingled, slipping over smooth rock in the virtual riverbed. She lowered her body into the wetness. Frightened river fish darted between her legs. The chaotic chirping of birds resonated through the boughs of the trees blanketing her insular sanctum. She closed her eyes and listened, carefully, until she heard the furtive fluttering of fragile wings.  Everything echoed, even her breath. The air became heavier and heavier. Anxiety swelling, she started to sing. She sang and she sang, and she sang. Her breath caught in h ..read more
