The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, Illinois on August 19-22, 2024. The convention is a major event in the life of a political party, and convention delegates are at the heart of all decisions made. On November 4th and 5th, WisDems kicked off One Year to Win, our massive voter contact surge marking one year out from the 2024 general election. Organizers, volunteers, and Democratic leaders fanned out in communities across our state to talk to Wisconsinites about their most pressing concerns, and to see if they might be interested in joining us next year. We have good news and bad news. First, the bad. . . We recently discovered that there are 800,000 unregistered likely progressive voters in Wisconsin. That’s right, hundreds of thousands who would probably vote Democratic if we could get them to register and vote. This is huge because WI is one of the top four states that will likely determine the election in 2024 — a state where Biden won by only 20,682 votes in 2020. The good news? We’re on it. The League of Women Voters-Greater Chippewa Valley will host a free voter registration training via Zoom from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 29, according to a press release. The training will teach participants how to help others register to vote and how to access resources. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair begins July 12th and runs through July 16th. As in the past we are sponsoring an informational booth (with Eau Claire County) to promote our local Democratic Party and our progressive values. The Democratic Party of Chippewa County is responsible for the booth on Thursday, July 13th and Saturday, July 15th. We need at least two volunteers to fill each of the shifts below.
