Suppose that the graph of a function f is known. Expkain how the graph of y = f(x) - 2 differs from the graph of y = f(x - 2). Let me see. For the graph of y = f(x) - 2, the graph of y = f(x) is shifted down 2 units on the line x = 0. For the graph of y = f(x - 2), the graph of y = f(x) is shifted two units to the right on the line y = 0. You say ..read more

Suppose that the graph of a function f is known. Explain how the graph of y = 4•f(x) differs from the graph of y = f(4x). Let me see. For the graph of y = 4•f(x), we stretch the graph vertically because 4 > 1. For the graph of y = f(4x), we compress the graph horizontally because 4 > 1. You say ..read more

The total projected worldwide digital music revenues R, in millions of dollars, for the years 2005 through 2010 can be estimated by the function R(x) = 170.7x^2 + 1373x + 1080 where x is the number of years after 2005. (a) Find R(0), R(3) and R(5),represents. Explain what each value represents. (b) Find r = R(x- 5). (c) Find r(5), r(8), and r(10), and explain what each value represents. (d) In the model r, what does x represent? Let me see. Part A I simply replace x with 0, 3, and 5... Digital Music Revenues ..read more

The square magnitude (SM) of a 3 component vector is: (xx + yy + z*z). If you divide vector A by ( 1.0 + SMA), where SMA is the square magnitude of A, is there a function that you can perform to obtain the original vector? Lets take original vector3 A = (Ax, Ay, Az). The final vector3 B = A/(1.0 + AxAx + AyAy + Az*Az). Now, is there a function of B that will return A? Thank you! I originally found that the dot product of a Vector with itself equals the vectors square magnitude.... function to obtain original vector after dividing it its square magnitude ..read more
