Looking to upgrade my budget boot foots to something nicer for chasing stripers up and down the Jersey shore. Lots of people recommend steering away from stocking foot waders for the sand due to sand getting in the boots and wearing through the stockings prematurely. So I just want to know what is everyone else's experience and if anyone figured out how to keep sand out of the boots. Thanks ..read more

So I’m planning on boat fishing more than I ever have this yr. I’ve fished eels only a few times a never had any true luck. We got a few fish but struck out more times than not. I’m sure it mostly bc of operator error. So the crew n I are looking to up our game. There is probably 1000 threads on this that I could look at but times change and gear/techniques improve. I run out of BI 90% of the time but MI is not out of question. My question are what to look for in structure and how to approach it from a fishing standpoint. Technique that may be applied to said structure. Things that I’m going t ..read more

In the last couple of days I had to face the reality that I am facing my 80th birthday next January and am slowing down a few steps. Been driving the beach for the last 3 or 4 weeks, burnin gas, with nothing to show for lots of tiring casting. I've decided to buy a rod for tossing snot from the sand but don't want to go for 5 bills for something that will only see limited use during the year. I'll save the casting for my fluking on the beach and for the fall season.
Can I have some suggestions for something about 10 1/2 or 11 foot that will toss 6 oz, possibly 8 ..read more

Hello, Wondering if anyone is using the Windfinder app. for the Sandy Hook (Ocean) tides, and which favorites you have set up for it? Looking at the options on the app. I see a few choices for Sandy Hook but it's not clear if they are for the bayside or the ocean. I do see one for Lot C. Thanks ..read more

Report as little or as much detail as you would like to provide the reader but please don't post specific street names or areas.
Pictures of Stripers are discouraged since they hinder a quick release and at times reveal a specific spot.
Do not direct viewers to any beach camera sites.
A specific spot is too much information!
It's not like telling a friend or two, posting it here is telling thousands. Doing so only creates crowds, garbage, and loss of our spots.
For example, you can say that you caught fish in Ocean County but saying that you got them ..read more

To all the folks that find the length of a Bass(or any species)important to them, perhaps put a wrap of tape on your rod(or mark it)so there's no need to keep the fish out of water while you look for a tape measure to find this length out.
Also, stay right at the waters edge, hold your rod up next to the fish that's still in the water.
Then quickly shake the fish off the hook with the piers you always have with you.
This will help determine if it's "keeper" size, or over slot etc.
This also makes you look much less like a googan.
And, it helps the fish stay alive and ..read more
