I received 4 tickets from NYPD in Manhattan for essentially the same incident: For going through a red light, but in line with the walk sign and to avoid cars turning at me. Furthermore, all the tickets said E-Bike, but I was riding a regular bicycle. Two of the tickets specifically said "Disobeying a red light on a bicycle with electric assist." Does anyone know if I can get these all dismissed off the bat because they labeled it as E-bike ..read more

* In case any one is still actually reading the NY/NJ forum.
The approaches and paths have been redesigned, resurfaced and are vastly improved. The South pathway is now closed for similar work. My understanding is that both paths will be open to pedestrians and cyclists after work is completed.
The entrance on the Manhattan side is much wider and doesn't have any tight hairpin turns that created choke points for cyclists and pedestrians on the south walkway. The New Jersey approach is...

Sup Cycling peeps?
Anyone remember the 24 hour bike race they had in the '70's in Central Park?
I think Pepsi was the sponsor, a guy I biked with a couple of weeks ago told me the name of the winner of the first 24 hour bike race there.
I was a kid about 10, and did a few laps on an english racer. My sister did it too, her bike that she brought back from England looked like this one.
Post back if you did this event, have pics to...

I've been eyeing this route for awhile but a bit hesitant to try it because of the lack of shoulder I'm seeing on Google maps. I would be approaching Mott Farm Road from 9W and entering on the east end then looping back to 9W to take me back to Brooklyn.
Any advice on vehicle traffic, best route back to 9W, difficulty of climbs, etc, would be appreciated. I did the round trip from Brooklyn to Bear Mountain summit a few weekends ago as a point of comparison. Harder, easier?
Thanks in advance ..read more

Just thought I would pass along.... I have no affiliation with the club, but have always enjoyed this group ride since the inception. Great club, vantastic group of people who are like minded and always great food.
I know the notification is kind of last minute, and registration closes on the 21st.... but if can join in, I do recommend it!
I hope the one of the two link below works, if not... just google "Ramble ride 2021"

Hi, I saw a similar topic discussed here before but thought I'd give it a re-fresh for the simple reason that I don't ride, I roller ski. And that means that, one, I need much smoother pavement (my wheels are only about 4 inches in diameter) and two, with skating technique, I take much more room on the road. I always step off when I hear traffic, but if there's too much of it, it kind of defeats the purpose. So, the less traffic, the better.
