I spent about 70 EUR this time in Charity Shop. What you think, what was so expensive? Of course, when I see pottery...I have to grab it. This is tallest ceramic candle holder I ever seen. Very nice teal glaze and decorative stripe is left unglazed. Quality. There is sticker with makers name Marianne Klopp Pottery on it. She is born in Germany and found her home now here in Ireland.  https://www.theopenwindowgallery.com/marianne-klopp When purchased, this candle holder must have cost over 50 EUR for sure. Velvety skirt.  Gorgeous color, A line, inner lining and the t ..read more

I am happy to own Marina Hamilton ceramics. I first came across her work at Gifted fair 2023 in Dublin. At the fair she had her bronzes (also horse) on sale and I fell in love with that in there but bronzes are extremely expensive. So I bought that cute penguin directly from Marina.  After that I kept close eye on her. When I saw her posting on Instagram a picture of her three ceramic horses of 2024. I could not resist. This horse is the most expensive ceramic I ever bought but I thought that it was worth it. I think Marina has achieved https://thebluehorsegallery.com/about ..read more

Again looking at the photo...does it seem to me or it is happening that my hauls turn out to be color coordinated? I swear, it just happens. Here I have items picked up from two charity shops. I love this coffee table book of Victorian Style by Judith & Martin Miller, Photography by James Merrell.  It covers all aspects of Victorian Style, architecture, interior, furniture, textile, china, glass, silver. Beautiful photos. I will spend many happy hours browsing and reading this one. Other aspect of buying used books is that you may find something from previous owners ..read more

Why to spend more when you can spend less

Here is the latest clothing I have picked up thrifting. Finding these and many more brand new with labels or with small ware clothing from charity shops has made me thinking that why should I go to shops and pay more for clothing when I can have fun "treasure hunting" and spend less. I think I've done buying from department stores or brand shops. Of course, I most likely need to go and buy when sudden need of something and under ware of course...but anything else, I've been able to find from charity shops. I was thinking to show me wearing these - but no, I tried and just struggled to ..read more

Olympe des Gouges sculpture by Sabine Hoffman (1926-2016) I saw this sculpture as a "buy it now" on Ebay. And straight away I had a feeling or "reflecs" to buy. Drew Pritchard has said, person purchases "the right thing" in a second. For some reason I am drawn to those printouts of old photos in this case print of a engraving I think. I didnt even know who is represented. When I started to dig deeper I started to like it more and more by every minute. Sabine Hoffman 1926-2016 Until now I never heard of her before. No surprise...one can not know all contemporary artists and she was liv ..read more

Thrifting highlight: Judy Greene's pottery

So, I have been thrifting this weekend and here is the haul. Judy Greene pottery. Its from her Connemara range. Here is her website: https://judygreene.wixsite.com/galway Now, on closer inspection I am not actually sure that the plate is Judy's although the glazes and colors are so similar. The incised mark on the plate is different than on the mug. But they go well together and I like their rustic look a lot. So, plate still remains a bit of the mystery. Bracelet and necklace Lady in the charity shop said it is graphite bead set. I never heard of graphite before...but ..read more

I first saw Michele works on Galway Potters market and they haunted me ever since.  When I saw this vase on Clare Potters Market held in Ballymorris pottery. I knew that I need to buy it. I believe this to be porcelain clay. I love the color combination and specially I love the use of 24k gold lustre accents. It is also glazed inside with pinkish glaze. What a delight. Here is a link to Michele's website: https://www.michelehannanceramics.com/  There were other delights on the Potters Market below are the pictures of my faves.  What can I say...Pottery makes me happy ..read more

This haul is from one charity shop, I call my honey hole :)  I got two tops, very nice quality silky material. Not worn, probably donated by retailers. I specially love this AVOCA Anthology top. The pattern reminds me 1970s illustrations. The material is silky to touch and it does not wrinkle. The decolte is beautifully done. What a great find with bargain price when retail price I could not afford. AVOCA is a big name in Ireland. Business has started off as weavers mainly working on wool items but now it gas grown to every possible area: Avoca Design, Avoca Bakery, Avoca Baker ..read more
