What are some good historical fiction novels about a clever thief?
Robin Hood type, spy, rogue, etc always in over his head?

In a bad reading slump.
Looking for:
an epic historical fiction with lots of adventure.
adventure more focused on a solo male character facing danger and intrigue (as opposed to a soldier in massive army/battles, etc.
Can have other characters too as long as #2 is present.
Just read Viking and Asian set novels some none of these.
My favorite book is Count of Monte Cristo so something with escaping jail, treasure, etc would be great.
A story that goes in unexpected directions with suprising character development. A good old fashioned story that unfolds.
I know this is specific but ..read more

What it says on the tin. Helot kid ends up having a Spartan dad and his whole life changes. Read it as a kid and think it was for a younger audience even though they showed krypteia and dead kids etc.
Help!

I read a prologue too a book some series who's name I can't remember and I'm trying too find it. The only clue is the prologue as I remember it. It features a man wearing a white mask who assaults a Italian fortress with strange magic ripping through the guards. I think it might have been the Vatican but it's not clear

Hi, everyone!
Check out my debut novel, The Voyageur, published on April 18 by Swift Press in the UK, with e-books available internationally. Ranked by The Sunday Times as among 2024's best works of historical fiction to date, it's set in 1830s British North America and is very loosely based on the story of Alexis St. Martin, a fur trader whose gunshot wound to the stomach healed into a gastric fistula. Destitute and far from home, St. Martin was the subject of painful medical experiments that led to the discovery of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
