I have met the enemy and they are us

There are many discussions in here about deer and turkey numbers and how hunting and hunters impact our success and enjoyment of this sport. It really hit home for me this year with turkeys. I have posted elsewhere how the turkey population has dramatically dropped around my property. From seeing flocks of 15-20+ birds during the winter and the hillsides reverberating with gobbles during the spring to seeing a SINGLE been with poults this fall and only 2 gobblers and a single hen this... We finally found Kody something we both agreed on as a first truck. He has plans that I have no idea about. Like cow pattern headliner with star lights. Ummmmm, wut? How about we start with fixing the rust? Lol. This will be a slow process as he doesn't have a license or a job to do anything to it yet. But let's start this to see where it goes. 03' extended cab Tacoma 231,000 miles 3 or 4" lift Updated frame $3,800 [ATTACH... Read more ..read more

A wood project that seemed like a great idea at the time

So a few months back, my new recurve I ordered from Black Widow arrived. It's a PSA in their "Greenleaf" color combination. Those colors just sort of "spoke to me" and it looked like a bow that belonged in the deer woods. Then I get this bright (or so I thought at the time) idea to make a new 2-piece deer grunt tube to mimic the color combinations in the Widow. To begin with, this call cost way too much in materials. The wood I went with was flame birch, mainly because it should take the... Read more ..read more

Dustin and all the other mothers out there. We celebrated last night as all the kids were home with their partners. I made steaks, Maddy made the sides and everyone else cleaned up. Then we watched Twister. Today I told her we needed to ignore the kids and I'd take her greenhouse jumping. We got my mom a Skylight. It's a slideshow picture frame that anyone we allow can add pictures to. Figure it might help with the empty house. [ATTACH... Read more ..read more

Lithium Batteries?
The Ohio Outdoors Forum
by TinyTucky

I am currently in the market for a 12v 60aH lithium battery to power electronics on my boat. I have 0 experience with lithium batteries, so I’m hoping someone has an honest review on them. There are about 10 million brands of lithium batteries out there, and the price range is crazy to me. There are cheapy Amazon brands for $160 and also “name brand” (Dakota, Impulse, etc.) that go upwards of $600 or more. I’ve read what seemed to be honest reviews on amazon, YouTube and Reddit in regards to... Read more ..read more

TikTok - Make Your Day If you don't feel like clicking the link. It is a video of a guy talking about how conservation isn't about the conservation of wildlife. Licenses are about the money and have nothing to do with the conservation of the resource. That was my take anyways. He said more than my brain could handle, lol. Lots to pick apart and I think it'll be a good discussion. I don't know what side of the conversation I fall on yet. I'm gonna listen... Read more ..read more

Stressless ridgetop 'Spoil' food plot creation

With almost no flat land on the farm and needing an attractant up on the limited ridges on the farm I selected an area that met the goals outlined below. Everyone should know the issues of thermals and swirling winds in bowls and valleys so I'll leave that one alone for now: Which is why this plot is 'on-top'. This ridge is a decent cruising location during the rut but there wasn't anything 'holding' the does around there as it was mature canopy. Watching the behavoir around plots for...
