I did not realize it until talking to a couple of fly tyers and fly fisherman a little while ago, but this is my 50th. year of fly tying and fly fishing!!! Wow! Where has all the time gone... I caught my first carp on the fly back in the 70's, back behind Pensacola Dam, to the area that is now a golf course. My second place to catch a carp was below the spillway at Spavinaw, then various creeks here and there. I also caught a big stringer of channel cats in a local farm pond, not long... Taking my son out this weekend for youth season and neither of us have ever gone. We saw some hens on our lease during deer season so figured we would try and see if a Tom would show up and give me son a chance. My question is do you guys show up at dark and start making owl calls or something else to locate the birds? Or wait until first light and call? We have some decoys and calls just not sure the best approach ..read more

Got my work cut out for myself. This is a 1996 21 foot Tracker and the owner stopped on this project many many years ago and let it die in a field. Rock Moss has grown on the gauges and steering wheel. The old glue and much of the black rubber carpet backing are stuck to the deck very well. I tried solvents, oils and acid to try to remove it easily. Nothing bothers to remove it and it could be the rubber coating that can't be eaten through. Critters made home in the center console which... Read more ..read more

I got a ten foot plastic bass buggy last year as a poor man's way to get on the water. The trolling motor I've been using as the main drive won't get me where I want to go on the lake and back. So after hemming and hawing (and not wanting to put a $600 honda on a $800 boat), I finally rolled the dice and got the newest motor the Chinese had to offer: a Hangkai 4-Stroke, 4 HP outboard. Power rating seems suspect. I put in gear oil, motor oil, and gas and she fired right up. I tighten all... Read more ..read more
