The ancient rooms of the Ducal Palace’s Quadreria (a picture gallery) have undergone a major restyling to house, in addition to the masterpieces of the Palace itself, a nucleus of valuable paintings and panels granted on long-term deposit by a private collection. After a five-year restoration by David Chipperfield Architects Milan, the iconic building of the Procuratie Vecchie in St Mark’s Square opens up to the city once again, enriched by Edoardo Tresoldi’s “Monumento” installation. Two years after the tragic Acqua Alta accident that damaged the building, the Mariano Fortuny House Museum is returned to Venice.
