Pioneer Electronics back in the TV business in the USA with LCD models

I just realized that Pioneer started making televisions again. But instead of making high-end plasma screens like the 60 inch PRO-141FD and 50 inch PRO-101FD that were 2008 models that went out of production in April of 2009. Pioneer since the year 2021 has been making lower end LCD screens, when I say lower end I mean the picture quality is not as good when compared to a LG or Sony OLED flat panel. However, the low-priced Pioneer LCD flat panels on sale at Best Buy for around $149.99 might be reliable with the possibility of them lasting 10+ years when connected to a good UPS or surge protect ..read more

Odd (software engineer humor?) Status Message

I bought a Philips (Funai OEM) 32" LCD HDTV at Walmart last year, lately, after subscribing to Hulu for $0.99/mo, I use my VHS VCR to time shift Hulu content. When I fast scan VHS through the ads, my Philips TV will switch to the screen for AV input and sometimes says "Hamster Wheel Engaged" instead of the usual "Searching for a Signal" for a second or 2 until my Philips TV locks on the the fast scan image. Anyone else noticed odd status messages (sometimes) appearing on their TVs? Kirk Bayne ..read more

STUTTER/JUDDER FREE TVs?

I got my first UHD TV last year (Sony Bravia X80J), I wish I had done better research, since it doesn't have the deep black levels I like, but I with it came a new problem I never experience before: stutter/judder. Not sure which I have. Reviews say it fixes judder quite, so it may be stutter I have, and only in blu-ray/UHD movies, and on in panning shots with a light source. Dark scenes are perfectly fine. The worst movie I have with this is effect is Ronin Flix's horror comedy THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE. My god, the amount of stutter/judder in that movie is obscene. Ha! Most of my research se ..read more

Dirty Screen Effect / Banding . . . is it time to just give up? :(

To make a long story short, in 2017 I first picked up a 4k flat screen to replace a plasma. After about a week something felt off. There was this long rectangle running through the screen during panning scenes mainly on grey or blue. Very noticeable during sports and gaming. Thus I discovered vertical banding / dirty screen effect. Returned the tv and didn't dop back into the waters again until 2019 and right out of the box noticed it. Figured I'd sit on things a bit longer . . .surely they'd figure out how to get rid of this, right? CUT TO: My plasma crapped out on me and I purchased a His ..read more
