I got a request to install a 120V indoor (mechanical room) smoke detector that can trigger an outdoor strobe if an alarm were to go off. It's in an outbuilding with some equipment in it, in the middle of a property. It was built before a lot of code requirements were in place and the owners want just a little notice if something goes wrong. I requested parts from my wholesaler, separate smoke and strobe that can work together, but was told nothing like that exists. Does anyone have... Smoke that can trigger a Strobe ..read more

One of my jobs I missed something on the new addition... The orginal EOL Horn strobe will extend to new horn stone locations creating a new EOL downstream. The engineer added a Horn strobe 12 feet over from the original EOL and I'm only assuming they forget about that location. All wire is in place. So I could either re route wire, keep both locations near each other, or just splice in that j box and eliminate old device location and put a blank Are there strict rules to splicing fire... all the apartment buildings that I've been involved with, complete wiring ,designing and programming sometimes of everything that needs a wire, that had prints by professional engineer had notification in the living rooms. Now the plans for an apartment building I was given drawn by an alarm company sales person (actually don't know his title but not a design professional) doesn't have anything in the living room and all the bedrooms have mini horns and are NOT low frequency type. So I'm... notification in apartment ..read more

I recently acquired a Simplex 4208 out of an abandoned school and I usually know how these things work but this one is a mystery to me! It’s a type 72c panel and supposedly it was directly tied to a remote station at the local fire department. I don’t see where that’s possible inside the panel as the hardware doesn’t look set up for that type of work. But I can’t seem to figure out how to wire the circuit for the pull stations and for the Horns/lights! I have the manual to it but I can’t... I always get confused on when and where iso modules are required. I have a data loop coming out of the fire alarm panel straight through the floor. No devices between fa panel and 2nd floor. Do I need an iso on the 2nd floor before my first device? Also if anybody has any diagrams or helpful info on isolation modules that would be great ..read more
