Hey everyone, I’m looking for opinions.
I started my hunt for catfish over a year ago. I’ve still got a lot to learn but I’m starting to find fish and it’s getting easier as I learn. When I started I bought different types of really cheap budget rods. I had the Garcia reels for a long time and took care of them.
Now I’m finding fish and missing hook ups. I finally had the fastest and hardest hit I’ve ever experienced. Had no idea it could get that violent. Thank goodness for not skimping on...

I have been out fishing for about a year now and I enjoy it a lot. I have been using his stuff and we just go every other fish. This summer I want to get a pole of my own so I don't have to rely on everything of his. I mainly have only been going for catfish but we have talked about bass, trout, and some other things. I have tried to do some research of my own and found these 2 for good all rounders. My price range is $200 or less preferably. Wondering if these would be good or if you guys...

I do a bunch of catfishing and mostly fish out of my Hobie Kayak. Im catching Blues up to around #35. I fish with two spinning reels attached to a St Croix 7’ surf/salt water rods that is 30 years old. My two bait casters are ABU 6501’s mounted on two Fenwick 7’ saltwater MED rods. These were repurposed rods when I started catfishing. Am I missing anything by not using a rod manufactured for catfishing ..read more

Long post alert:
MadKats Customer Service experience 12/20/23
Let me preface this by saying I love to support local small businesses. I’d much rather give the smaller guy a dollar than Walmart or Amazon. Madkats is local to me, and prior to today I have had nothing but great things to say about everyone there. I have made numerous trips to purchase even small lures and bait to give them my business. This rod was purchased less than 1 year ago (May 2023 purchase date)
Back in October, I was...

Curious if anyone has tried the whisker seeker gfx rods in the medium power. Website says they’re rated 1-5 oz which is just one ounce less than the medium heavy. Would like to know how they compare to the medium heavy whisker seekers ..read more

A while back I purchased two Ugly Stik Catfish casting rods (8ft, two piece, MH) from Amazon...40.00 ea. free shipping. I had heard and read about these rods, both good and bad, and decided to give them a try. I mounted two old Penn conventional reels, 40 lb braid, 50 lb shock leader, and three oz no rolls, and set about using the rods.
The tips are light and even the smallest nibble records a response..........the tips also record a response from minimal wind and wave, etc. They are a tad...
